THE HORSE HERB HUB MISSION.

To feed the horse as nature intended, avoiding processed feeds and unnatural
supplements, allowing the horse to self-select herbs, grasses, tree's, algae,
clays in order to return the body to a healthy state.

The history of The Horse Herb Hub.

Since the last world war, we have lost 95% of our wild flower meadows and old
turf in the UK, replaced by intensive agriculture and 'improved pasture', great
for improving milk yield and fattening livestock, but hazardous and potentially
dangerous to our horses, most of which these days are 'leisure' horses, who are
ridden sparingly and not moving as much as their free roaming ancestors.

With an increase in chemical fertilisers and aggressive pesticide spraying,
destroying the horses sensitive gut microbiome, it is little wonder our modern
horses are suffering from modern diseases, such as laminitis, sweet itch,
obesity, grass sickness, metabolic issues and metabolic issues.

By reintroducing important herbs into the horses diet and re-evaluating some
management techniques, we can start to make improvements to our horse’s health
and lifestyle.

The Horse Herb Hub is here to help you!

WHY SUBSCRIBE TO THE HORSE HERB HUB?

For a modest monthly subscription (the price of two cappuccino's!)  you can join
me on a years journey into all things herbal. We will look at each season and
how it affects the horse, we will go on forage walks and identify different herb
species and discuss their benefits, spring, summer and autumn. We will explore
how we can help our horses during the Winter stasis. You will learn to recognise
different medicinal plants, and which plants are poisonous , dispelling myths
along the way. And I will share with you the fascinating world of essential
oils, the powerful healing modality for emotional and physical ailments.

ABOUT ME.

I have had a passion for horses since a young child, and whilst never able to
have a pony of my own , I spent my childhood as close to horses as I could,
sitting in fields of ponies and watching their behaviour, helping friends with
their ponies and working with horses as soon as I was able. For me, it was never
necessarily about riding, although that was a bonus, I just enjoyed being with
these magnificent creatures and learning all about them.

I started working with horses when I was 14, and ultimately followed my career
round many different yards in different countries, soaking up observations and
behaviours and learning to read body language and subtle behaviour traits.

In 1996 I became one of five ladies who became the first Equine Sports Massage
therapists in the country, under the tutelage of the late Mary Bromiley, equine
physiotherapist extraordinaire. We set up the Equine Sports Massage Association
to protect our craft, and it is booming today with top quality therapists.

This wonderful career has given me so many opportunities and I have been able to
delve further into equine behaviour and emotions, and extended my therapy into
many other fields in order to help the horse.

As a therapist, I am always looking for ways to improve my treatments and when I
discovered the huge benefits of herbs and essential oils for a pony of mine who
was border line Cushings, I was blown away, both by her reactions to the herbs,
and consequently her improvement, which kept her medication free for the rest of
her life.

These days I am lucky enough to be able to help horses with a huge toolbox of
therapies, and the horses ( and dogs!) always respond so well to the herbs!

I run workshops throughout the year and provide herbal treatments with or
without physical treatments.

Please follow me on Facebook Karen Perry Animal Therapy for regular updates.
