   Rush Hour 2 is an American action comedy film released in 2001, directed by
   Brett Ratner and written by Jeff Nathanson, based on characters created by
   Ross LaManna.
   
   Rush Hour 2 is the sequel to the Rush Hour franchise and stars Jackie Chan
   and Chris Tucker reprising their roles from the first movie. According to
   reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, the movie has a 52% approval based on 128
   reviews, with an average rating of 5.4/10.
   
   Rush Hour 2 Movie Synopsis
   
   Days after rescuing a Chinese diplomat's daughter, LAPD Detective James
   Carter is vacationing in Hong Kong with his partner, Hong Kong Police Chief
   Inspector Lee. Their vacation is interrupted when a bomb explodes at the US
   Consulate General, resulting in the deaths of two undercover US Customs
   agents.
   
   Lee is assigned to the case and learns that his late father's police partner,
   Ricky Tan, is involved. Lee and Carter attempt to question Ricky, who has now
   become a Triad leader, but this triggers a fight with his bodyguards.
   
   The US Secret Service, led by Agent Sterling, competes with the Hong Kong
   Police for jurisdiction over the case. Lee's office is attacked by a bomb,
   and unknowingly, Lee thinks that Carter has died inside. The two meet at a
   party on Ricky's yacht, where Ricky warns his subordinate, Hu Li.
   
   Lee and Carter confront Ricky, who claims he's trapped by his enemies and
   asks for protection, but Hu Li shoots him and escapes. Sterling blames Lee
   for Ricky's death and orders him not to get involved in the case. Carter is
   ordered to return to Los Angeles, but he manages to convince Lee to go home
   with him.
   
   Carter assures Lee that every major criminal operation must involve someone
   white, in this case, he believes that person to be Steven Reign, a
   billionaire and hotelier in Los Angeles who looked suspicious at Ricky Tan's
   party.
   
   While staking out Reign Towers, they notice Isabella Molina, who Carter met
   on Ricky's yacht, receiving a delivery from Hu Li. In a misunderstanding,
   they think the package contains a bomb, so Lee and Carter attempt to
   intervene. However, Molina reveals that she is an undercover US Secret
   Service agent, investigating Reign's laundering of $100 million.
   
   Lee and Carter visit Kenny, an ex-convict who is now an informant for Carter,
   who runs an illegal gambling establishment in the back of his Chinese
   restaurant. Kenny tells them about a customer who paid with a suspicious
   amount of hundred-dollar bills, which Carter has confirmed to be counterfeit
   money laundered by Reign.
   
   They track the money to the bank, where they are arrested by Hu Li. They were
   taken to Las Vegas in a Triad truck, but Lee and Carter managed to escape
   after realizing that Reign was using his new casino, Red Dragon Casino, to
   launder USD100 million.
   
   At Red Dragon, Molina guides Lee to where the counterfeit money is printed,
   while Carter creates chaos to help Lee get past security. Hu Li captures Lee
   and puts a Ying Tao grenade in his mouth before taking him to Ricky, who
   turns out to be alive. When Ricky leaves, Molina tries to catch Hu Li but is
   shot, and Lee throws a grenade before Hu Li blows himself up, causing the
   evacuation of the casino.
   
   Carter fights Hu Li, accidentally taking him out with a spear, while Lee goes
   after Ricky. At the penthouse, Reign prepares to escape by helicopter, but
   Ricky fatally stabs her. Lee and Carter confront Ricky, who confesses to
   killing Lee's father. In the final scuffle, Ricky falls to his death when Lee
   accidentally kicks him out the window. Hu Li enters the room with a time
   bomb, forcing Lee and Carter to escape using a zipline while Hu Li dies in
   the explosion.
   
   Rush Hour 2 cast:
   
   Jackie Chan as Chief Inspector Lee of the HKPF. He takes Carter to Hong Kong
   for a vacation, but gets involved in an international investigation.
   
   Chris Tucker as LAPD Detective James Carter, who is vacationing in Hong Kong
   but quickly becomes involved in an international investigation.
   
   John Lone as Ricky Tan, a Triad member who collaborates with Steven Reign.
   
   Zhang Ziyi as Hu Li, an assassin and Triad member.
   
   Roselyn Sánchez as Agent Isabella Molina of the Secret Service. She works
   clandestinely, posing as a corrupt agent and asks Lee and Carter to help her
   stop the Triads.
   
   Alan King as Steven Reign, a Los Angeles hotelier who collaborates with the
   Triads to launder counterfeit money.
   
   Harris Yulin as Special Agent in Charge Sterling.
   
   Kenneth Tsang as Captain Chin.
   
   Don Cheadle as Kenny, the owner of a Chinese restaurant in L.A. that is also
   an illegal gambling venue.
