Video shows moment of the Bronx partial building collapse

NEW YORK -- Stunning surveillance video shows the moment a building partially
collapsed in the Bronx on Monday afternoon.

It happened at around 3:30 p.m. at 172 West Burnside Ave. in Morris Heights.

The video shows several people on the street walking and then starting to run as
the corner of the building came down.

Two men are seen running for their lives as the cloud of dust and debris lands
right next to him. A school bus is seen driving nearby, and an MTA bus was also
close to the scene. One person ran from their car after the dust cloud landed on
it.

Mayor Adams, officials discuss Bronx building partial collapse

The cause of the collapse wasn't immediately known, but officials said the
building had several open violations.

CBS New York spoke with a woman earlier Monday who said she saw the collapse and
it took everyone by surprise -- and how could it not?

"I'm scared. I don't wanna be in my own place. I'm scared," neighbor Tia Scott
said.

Scott frequents the bodega on the main level of the building located at the
corner of West Burnside Avenue and Phelan Place. She returned Monday afternoon
to a jaw-dropping scene.

"We actually just left from over here. Just left and it was not like this,"
Scott said. "You can see in the living room. You can see in the bedroom. You can
see in the whole building right now."
