Brain Disorders

Vascular dementia is the second most common cause of dementia,
after Alzheimer's disease. It accounts for up to 20 % of all dementias and is
caused by brain damage from cerebrovascular or cardiovascular problems -
usually strokes. It also may result from genetic
diseases, endocarditis (infection of a heart valve), or amyloid angiopathy (a
process in which amyloid protein builds up in the brain's blood vessels,
sometimes causing hemorrhagic or "bleeding" strokes). In many cases, it may
coexist with Alzheimer's disease. Unlike people with Alzheimer's disease, people
with vascular dementia often maintain their personality and normal levels of
emotional responsiveness until the later stages of the disease. People with
vascular dementia frequently wander at night and often have other problems
commonly found in people who have had a stroke,
including depression and incontinence.

DEPRESSION IS COMMON DURING PANDEMIC DAYS BUT CURABLE

It has been difficult times because of environmental factors that have not only
worsened anxiety and uncertainty, but have also distorted our lives in such a
way our daily routines that used to give us satisfaction and joy but this
anti-social life has brought depression. Our natural ways of connecting
socially, vacationing, recharging, and exercising have been changed during the
pandemic.

Everyone has been impacted emotionally by COVID-19 in ways that have negative
effects on our mental health. If you are experiencing the following symptoms,
you may wish to seek professional assistance.

· Mood or feelings of prolonged sadness

· Sleep or appetite problems; fatigue / loss of energy

· Loss of interest in formerly pleasurable activities

· Irritability or increased anger

· Cognitive changes (decreased concentration or memory)

· Increased anxiety that influences your ability to function

· Generally feeling poorly/ somatic problems

Depression is a curable illness that includes identification at first stage and
treating it by understanding different factors that caused it. We do not ask how
or why, we believe in talking and understanding. Evidence-based treatments are
practiced through whatsapp call.

Through regular sessions one can feel lighter in thoughts and will start taking
the situation positively.

IS CORONA RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY?

Now you are recovered from Covid-19 a month ago still struggling with some
mental health problem? Your oxygen level reached normal, but still having
constant headaches and struggling to do easy tasks.

Walking from the bedroom to the hall feels like an accomplishment, but more than
that still feel depressed and nervous. Constant worries keep you up the whole
night.

Mental Health Affected by Covid-19

Researchers around the world are still studying the long-term effects of
Covid-19. The data worldwide shows that 1/3rd infected patients may develop
neurological symptoms.

Leaving that aside, we know that pandemic created mental health issues among the
people due to the psychological toll of isolation, loneliness, unemployment,
financial stress, and importantly loss of loved ones.

Does Covid-19 Increase Mental Health Issues?

The most recent studies showed that the Covid-19 infection increases psychiatric
problems, insomnia, and dementia. The study also revealed that 65% of people
having psychiatric disorders were more likely to be diagnosed with Covid-19.

A source from Mental Health Institution says, " There are some bodily changes
after Covid-19, which in some ways related to creating psychiatric problems."

Understand Covid-19 Psychiatric Disorder

You may sometimes feel stressed, fatigued, or even sad due to the effects of
Covid-19 on your body. When you visit your doctor's clinic and screen positive
for your depression or anxiety, remember it's just a diagnostic tool.

People having Covid-19 also test screen positive for depression, as symptoms of
Covid-19 and depression overlap. For example, lack of sleep, reduced
concentration, and reduced appetite may also be due to another medical illness.

Steps to Minimize Mental Consequences of Covid-19 Infection?

 * Vaccination: It is crucial to vaccinate people with a psychiatric disorder,
which is an independent risk factor for Covid-19 Infection.

 * Mask and Social Distancing: Aim to make social distancing, wear a mask, and
stay out of the large public gathering.

 * Seek Social Support: Although social distancing is more crucial, getting
support from others can help to improve psychiatric symptoms.

 * Connect Virtually with Health Care Providers: Consider using calls or video
calls for daily routine check-ups and treatment from a mental health
professional. The therapist can help to find new ways to fight depression and
   stress.

 * Perform Physical Activities: Physical activities help to boost heart health
and memory, while medicines help to relax anxiety, depression, and stress.

 * Try to anticipate distress: It is okay to get overwhelmed when you read news
about the outbreak. It is important not to get stressed and keep up with your
physical and mental health. Try to avoid habits like smoking, drinking, and
   overeating to increase health issues.

Conclusion

The mental health issues are still under study and show how much we still need
to learn. The mental health issues that fall out of pandemic are likely to be
included for a long time battle understanding how the disease impacts mental
health is vital to work.

Having social support and perform physical activities can help to relieve some
mental disorders.

DON’T LET FOMO KILL YOUR MOJO

Everybody talks about FOMO these days. In fact, the word has been added to the
Oxford English dictionary in 2013.

What is FOMO: Fear of missing out. It is an uneasy feeling that you're missing
out on what others are doing or possessing or having something better than you.
It has been seen that nearly 75% of young adults experienced the phenomena of
FOMO in their lives. It aggravates the sense of envy, and jealousy and affects
ones self-esteem. It also lead to the low feeling of helplessness that you are
missing out on something big.

SOCIAL MEDIA AND FOMO:

Social media provides a situation in which you are comparing your regular life
with the highlights of others lives. Social media has created a platform for
bragging, it is a place where things, events, and even happiness looks to be in
competition at times. Research shows that low level of satisfaction, unhappiness
in life, and persistent comparison with others originates FOMO.

What is the ways to curb FOMO :

Slow down and take your time when eating, talking, driving, or engaging in daily
activities. Differentiate between what is truly important and necessary than
unimportant things. Devote time on things that are more rewarding. Rather than
focusing on what you lack, notice what you have in life. Keep a journal about
your personal best memories rather than putting each and everything on the
online platform. This shift your focus from public approval to a private
appreciation that makes your life more happy and more content. Make plans with a
good friend, organize group outings, this keeps FOMO away. Focus on Gratitude,
studies shows that simply telling others what you appreciate about them can lift
your spirits as well as theirs too. Avoid multitasking, a person focused on a
single task is not only successful but also satisfied. Rather than chasing after
the illusion of happiness, practice being present and enjoying the moment.
Rather than just focusing on the results or end product, enjoy the process and
journey to achieve them. To sum up:

 * FOMO starts with Sadness and unhappiness

 * Social media makes it worse, not better

 * Happiness is all about mindful attention.

 * Gratitude should be an essential part of life.

Thus forget the fake perfect lives you see on social media which leads to FOMO.
Instead, try JOMO - Joy OfMissing Out these on all those illusions. And when you
spend time looking at others post and envying them, keep one thing in mind,
“It’s your life you are missing out on.”
