U11/U13/U15/U18

FFMHA will be running a preseason camp for the upcoming 2021/2022 season.

The camp will consist of 45 minutes of on ice drills followed by a 3/3 or 4/4
scrimmage for the second half of the session.  The idea of the camp is to work
on overall hockey fundamentals (edge work, skating, passing, and shooting – not
conditioning) to promote getting the kids safely back to hockey.

The camp will run August 23rd to September 16th, 2021 with the U11 and U13
groups on the ice Mondays and Wednesdays between 4-9PM with the U15 and U18
groups on the ice Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Total of 4 weeks, 8 sessions for each
group.

Goalies interested in participating can send an expression of interest email to
ffmhawebmaster@outlook.com, please do not register goalies through the portal
for this camp.

The cost of the camp will be $100.00 per participant with limited spots
available of 26 players per division.

Registration will open August 5th on a first come basis.
Please follow the link to register.

https://page.hockeycanada.ca/page/hc/hno/fort-frances-minor-hockey-association

Due to a new Hockey Canada portal you will need to create a new profile and link
your existing players into your new account.

FFMHA commits themselves to comply with the requirements and recommendations of
Ontario National, Provincial, and local Public health and other governmental
authorities, and to put in place and adopt all necessary measures to that
effect. Memorial Sports Centre’s Covid protocols will be in place same as last

END OF SEASON

Hello All Parents & Players,

Since the announcement yesterday for the region to move to the Red Zone, the
FFMHA Board has been in contact with HNO, the Town, and others regarding the
impact to hockey on Monday. Here is what it looks like for us:

- Organized recreational team sports must not be practised or played (with the
exception of training sessions for team members).

- Training sessions are limited to 10 people indoors (10 on the ice max) and
must not include games/scrimmages.

- All training session drills/activities must allow for physical distancing of
at least 2m between individuals.

We unfortunately cannot envision a scenario where it makes sense logistically or
financially for us to offer ice sessions for only 10 people on the ice at a
time. We believe that we have done everything that we can this season to keep
kids active with hockey but unfortunately COVID has thrown us another curveball
that is our last strike for the season.

We are disappointed to announce that the FFMHA season will draw to a close on
Sunday, March 14, 2021 @ 10:00pm.

We would like to sincerely thank all the players, parents, coaches, managers,
trainers, conveners, & health screeners for your efforts and dedication for the
peculiar season that we just experienced. I would like to also personally thank
all of our FFMHA board members who put in so much more time than a typical
season requires due to the requirements imposed by our surreal circumstances of
the day.

We wish everyone the very best to stay safe & healthy and hope for a closer to
normal experience in the fall.

Kind regards,

Jason

AA TRYOUT NOTES

1. After discussion at the board level, FFMHA has decided that the AA teams from
U11-U15 will NOT travel out of town for the immediate future. With hockey on
hold and undecided in other regional areas, the safety and well being of

up a division in house league with a decision on the U18 division and who to
play is to be decided very soon.

2. Reminder to ensure registration and AA fees are paid prior to tryouts.
Players will not be permitted to skate unless paid.

3. Please bring both a dark and light jersey with you to tryouts.

4. Please bring your own water bottle that is clearly marked with your name.
Sharing water bottles is not allowed.

FFMHA CORRESPONDENCE TO TOWN OF FORT FRANCES REGARDING ICE IN PLAN

Media Release

The FFMHA would like to thank everyone again for your patience and understanding
during these uncertain times as we work with the Town to determine what our
options are.

Following the FFMHA board meeting held on Tuesday September 15th, we have the
following information to pass along:

- The Town has scheduled for ice to be in both rinks by October 5th.

- The recommendation regarding the Town’s Ice in Plan is being sent back to the
Community Services Executive Committee for review on Monday, September 21st and
will be re-examined by Council on September 28th that will hopefully provide
more clarity.

- Beginning the week of October 5th, all divisions with the exception of U9 and
U7 will begin. We will be starting with a 4on4 format initially.

- After 2-3 weeks, the Town should have a plan where spectators will be
permitted in the stands. U9 and U7 will commence their seasons at this time to
allow for spectators.

- Due to the Ice in Plan being sent back to Council, payments can be deferred
until that time.

- Registration will be opened up again when we have more clarity on numbers in
each division, there will likely have to be a waiting list format in some
divisions.

Again, we thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.

REGISTRATION AND PAYMENTS

Further to the earlier post this evening, we would like to add some information.

While the registration deadline will remain as Sunday Septermber 13th at 5:00PM,
we will allow registrants to defer payments until Wednesday September 16th. This
will give families time to discuss the outcome of the Town Council Meeting on
Monday and decide (hopefully) to remain with minor hockey this year.

As well, for those who have paid, if a refund is requested after the Meeting it
will be issued.

Again, we thank you for your understanding and patience.

skates & helmets - goalies can don pads and chest/ arm protection at the arena

- leagues (cohorts) will be at most 50 participants

a significant impact on the upcoming 2020/21 minor hockey season.

We are working diligently towards solutions that will be of most benefit and in
the best interest of participants of minor hockey.

As always, we appreciate your patience and understanding and when more
information is available we will post on Facebook and our website.

REGISTRATION AND 20/21 SEASON INFO

REGISTRATION AND 20/21 SEASON INFO

The FFMHA Board would like to thank everyone for their patience as we navigate
through the safest return to hockey within the Hockey Northwestern Ontario
Framework that was released this week and has been endorsed by regional health
authorities. Here is what we have for seasonal planning so far:

- Registration for the 2020/21 season will open September 1st (10:00AM CST) and
close September 13th (5:00PM)
- Late registrations will NOT be accepted due to league restrictions on numbers
as per the HNO Return to Play Framework
- 5 on 5 hockey is being planned
- AA teams are being planned - see below
- we require the number of athletes by the deadline to appropriately and
effectively design and plan the various age groups

The season registration fees will be:
U7 - $350
U9 - $400
U11 - $400
U13 - $400
U15 - $400
U18 - $400
Additional children - $350
Goaltenders - $250

It has been decided that there will be AA programming this year and while the
makeup of the AA season is yet to be determined, at the very least, the AA teams
will play up an age category and be a member of that house league division on a
regular basis ie.  U11 AA will play U13 HL.  There will be the opportunity to
register for AA tryouts on the registration page.  The tryout fee for AA is $50.

If you require any further information or have questions please refer to the HNO
Return to Play Framework linked below or contact a FFMHA board member.

coaches, and parents that we are planning to open registration for the upcoming

Ontario in the coming weeks that outlines a safe return to hockey with
endorsement from regional health authorities. This should yield greater
certainty so that we are able to inform parents, coaches, and players when a
return to hockey may be expected and what it may look like.

COACHES INFORMATION

FFMHA is in need of 3 Peewee House League Head Coaches.  Without these coaches
in place by the weekend we cannot move forward with Peewee evaluations and team

please contact Kim Nicholson the Peewee Director at nicholsonkimberly@gmail.com

that coaches are present to assist with on-ice activities as well as with the
player rankings.

There will be a MANDATORY coaches meeting on Monday September 30 at 7PM in the
IFK conference room.,  The meeting will be approximately 1 hour.

Due to the influx of requests at local police stations for background checks it
is recommended that you start the process of obtaining your vulnerable sector
