Insurance brokerage, risk management, and consultancy firm Arthur J. Gallagher &
Co. has acquired Allied Insurance Brokers and its subsidiary, Ascinsure
Specialty Risk. Allied Insurance Brokers was founded in 1982 and is
headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. 

"Allied Insurance Brokers and Ascinsure Specialty Risk bring us outstanding
niche expertise, a strong new business focus, innovative loss control services,
and a commitment to client advocacy," J. Patrick Gallagher, Jr., chairman,
president, and CEO of Gallagher, said. "I am excited to welcome Marty [O’Brien],
Tres [Whitlock], Jared [Clough], and their associates to our growing global
team.”

Allied Insurance Brokers specializes in insurance and risk management services
for crane, scaffold, and equipment dealers in the United States. It also works
with nonprofit social services organizations in Western Pennsylvania. Ascinsure
offers services in underwriting management, which includes loan applications and
insurance products, to organizations operating within the crane and scaffolding
industries. 



While full terms of the acquisition remain undisclosed, the Allied Insurance
Brokers and Ascinsure teams will continue to work out of their current location.
Dan Tropp, who heads Gallagher’s Mid-Atlantic retail property and casualty
brokerage practices, and Chris Leisz, the head of programs for the firm’s
wholesale operation, Risk Placement Services, Inc, will act as the newly
acquired firms’ directors. 

"As recognized leaders in the crane and scaffold space, Allied is a natural
addition to our construction practice capabilities," Tropp said. "Their sales
culture and consultative approach fit perfectly with our Core360 approach to
evaluating and minimizing our clients' total cost of risk."

"Ascinsure is a proven leader in the crane, scaffolding, rental equipment, and
party goods dealers' insurance markets, helping its agents and their clients
understand their exposures in this difficult segment,” Leisz added. "I am
excited to partner with Marty and the Ascinsure team."

Based in Rolling Meadows, Illinois, Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. has offices in
more than 35 countries and offers services in more than 150 countries via
correspondent brokers and consultants. In addition to the Allied Insurance
acquisition, the firm in 2018 expanded its operations in Canada with the
acquisitions of Ottawa-based Leystone Insurance & Financial and Winnipeg-based
Belton Boisselle Ltd.
