COMMITTEE MEETING AND TROOP MEETING ON SUNDAY

Posted on Oct 23 2024 - 11:01pm

Message:

Thanks to everyone who made our last campout at Camp Johnson a success!

Tonight we worked on Patrol meals for our November Troop Challenge campout.  We
have a good turnout planned and there's still time to join us.   Don't miss this
South Windsor tradition.   We also worked on Merit Badges.    Don't forget to
followup with any assignments from your Counselor.

We will have a Committee Meeting Thursday, 10/24 at the Avery Street Church at
07:00 PM.  All adults are welcome to join us.

This Sunday we will have our outdoor Troop Meeting at Lawrence Road Park from
03:00 - 04:15 PM.   Cub Scouts are joining us, so please make every effort to
attend, and wear your class A uniforms.   If you want, you can also show your
Scout spirit and Halloween spirit by adding a costume.

Are you missing our dates on your calendar?

Our Troop calendar has dates for the entire 2024/2025 Scouting year on it.
Make sure you synchronize our web site calendar with your own.   If you
haven't done that yet, just login to this web site.  If you don't remember your
password, you can request a new one.  Once in, just use the "Calendar Sync"
option, and our calendar will always be on your device and updated with any
changes we make.    Try it; it's easy and convenient.

REGISTRATIONS AND ADULT VOLUNTEERS

Posted on Oct 9 2024 - 10:21pm

Message:

We had a nice Troop meeting tonight focused on menu planning for our October
Campout to Camp Johnson, and working as Patrols.   It looks like we'll have a
good Scout turnout for the campout, and we do need to make sure we have enough
adults attending to make this successful.

Meanwhile, the adult meeting was successful in getting registrations completed,
and discussing adult volunteer opportunities in the Troop.   Please help us out
where you can!     Volunteer sign up here:

Make sure you checkout the email about Otis Ridge campout and skiing.   That
should be a lot of fun!

Good evening, Scout Families,

Thank you for your interest in the Otis Ridge camp out! I’m excited to share

We have confirmed that our camp out will take place during the weekend
of February 14th through the 16th. Please be prepared to make a commitment at
next week’s meeting, along with a deposit of $25. Deposits can be made via cash

the number of scouts/registered adults who attend. There is a minimum fee of

If you have any specific questions, feel free to let me know so I can compile a
list to discuss with our contact at Otis Ridge.

Looking forward to a great trip!

Message:

We had a productive Troop equipment organizing session last night.    Thanks for
everyone who came, and now our storage and Patrol boxes are looking much better.

Next week we'll have a regular Troop meeting at the Church, and we will be
holding a Parent Planning Meeting on October 9th, and we kindly ask all parents
to be available. During the meeting, we will go over the new self-registration
process rolled out by the scouting organization this year. We will also assist
everyone in processing their Scouts’ dues that night.

Don't forget to RSVP for the October and November (South Windsor Troop
Challenge)  campouts.    We need head counts and commitments from adults campers
as well.      http://rmd.me/t0.SnJSoTPQ     Don't miss out on all the fun!

TROOP FEES ARE DUE, AND PARENTS MEETING.

Posted on Oct 3 2024 - 7:01am

Message:

Dear Troop 186 Families,

I hope this message finds you well. We will be holding a Parent Planning Meeting
on October 9th, and we kindly ask all parents to be available. During the
meeting, we will go over the new self-registration process rolled out by the
scouting organization this year. We will also assist everyone in processing
their Scouts’ dues that night.

The dues for this year will be **$174.07**, which includes the following
breakdown:
- BSA National: $85
- Council Fee: $69
- Admin Fee: $5.07
- Optional Scout Life Subscription: $15

For those who opt out of the Scout Life subscription, the total will be
**$159.07**.

In addition to the above dues, there is a supplemental troop fee to cover the
cost of Court of Honor ceremonies and awards throughout the year. This payment
can be made via cash or check on the night of the meeting.

We look forward to seeing you all on October 9th and thank you for your
continued support!

Best regards,
Liz Root

COURT OF HONOR AND UPCOMING

Posted on Sep 25 2024 - 9:38pm

Message:

Last weekend's campout was a success and included a 6-7 mile hike.    The Scouts
really enjoyed that camp site and we may go back there again.   If you still
have Troop gear, make sure you bring it to the next meeting.

We had a nice Court of Honor put on by the Senior Patrol tonight where our
Scouts were awarded everything they've earned from Summer camp including a whole
lot of Merit Badges.    Congratulations to our Honor Camper, Hunter, and to
everyone for everything they earned, and an amazing week of camp.

Our adult Committee Meeting is this Thursday, 9/26 at the Avery Street Admin
Building at 7PM.   Park in the Church parking lot, walk around the Church to the
right, and it's the next building.

This Sunday, we're going to have our Troop meeting outside from 3-4:15 PM at
Lawrence Road Park on the corner of Avery Street and Dart Hill Road.   Bring
your compass if you have one and good walking shoes.    This is in place of our
usual Wed Troop meeting; so if the weather is nice, we'll meet outside on
Sunday, and if it isn't, we'll cancel Sunday and meet Wednesday.    Keep an eye
out for a Sunday email and Remind text.

And don't forget to RSVP for the October and November (South Windsor Troop
Challenge)  campouts.    We need head counts and commitments from adults campers
as well.      http://rmd.me/t0.SnJSoTPQ     Don't miss out on all the fun!
