* Home EAT SEASONABLY What could be nicer than fresh fruit and veg at its seasonal best – there's something so good about tucking into something that's just been picked. Try eating seasonably to experience the joy of eating fruit and vegetables at their peak of perfection: FRESHER, TASTIER, BETTER VALUE AND BETTER FOR THE PLANET. The Eat Seasonably calendar helps you discover what’s ripe, ready and at its best throughout the year. The darker colours show you what's in season each month, starting with January in the centre. EAT SEASONABLY BETTER TASTE Ask any chef and they’ll tell you that fruit and veg are at their freshest and tastiest when they’ve just been picked, so why settle for sickly looking strawberries in Winter or unappetising asparagus in Autumn? BETTER VALUE Lower production costs and more abundant crops helps to keep the price down. A basket of fruit and veg bought in season can be as much as a third cheaper than the same basket bought out of season. BETTER FOR THE PLANET Eating seasonably is a great way of eating sustainably. Growing fruit and veg in season requires lower levels of artificial inputs like heating, lighting, pesticides and fertilisers than at other times of the year. WHO'S BEHIND THIS? Eat Seasonably is designed to help everybody enjoy fruit and vegetables at their best. The campaign was launched in 2009 and has worked with many of the nation's biggest food businesses and charities to present a clear and simple picture of what's in season when and the sustainability benefits of eating seasonably. Eat Seasonably is owned and managed by the not-for-profit organisation Behaviour Change. © Behaviour Change Terms and conditions Cookie Policy Contact us
