Climate change is a significant challenge in Turkana County, affecting
livelihoods, resources, and the overall well-being of the community. IFIP is
committed to helping the society navigate these challenges by empowering
communities to adapt to and mitigate the effects of climate change. Through
targeted initiatives, we aim to build community resilience by promoting
sustainable practices, such as tree planting, water conservation, and
alternative energy sources. Our efforts focus on educating communities about the
impacts of climate change, providing the tools and knowledge to reduce their
vulnerability, and fostering long-term solutions that ensure environmental
sustainability and economic stability. Together, we aim to create a future where
the people of Turkana can thrive in the face of climate-related challenges.

CONFLICT
Conflict is a persistent challenge in Turkana County, often exacerbated by
competition over scarce resources such as water and pasture. IFIP is committed
to helping communities navigate and resolve conflicts by promoting
peacebuilding, cohesion, and conflict resolution initiatives. Our approach
involves fostering dialogue between conflicting groups, training community
leaders in conflict mediation, and addressing the root causes of disputes,
including resource scarcity and economic inequalities. By empowering local
communities with the skills and strategies to prevent and resolve conflicts
peacefully, IFIP aims to create an environment of stability and cooperation. We
also work closely with women and youth, recognizing their critical role in
fostering long-term peace. Our goal is to build stronger, more resilient
communities where conflicts are resolved amicably, and everyone can work towards
sustainable development and shared prosperity.
