DODGE CONSTRUCTION NETWORK CONSTRUCTION STARTS AND FORECASTS


STARTS FOR THE MONTH OF APRIL

Construction starts fell 4% in April to $1.04T. Nonresidential starts led the
drop as manufacturing fell 22% following strong performance in March.
Nonbuilding starts rose 7%, and residential building starts gained 12%.  [ watch

DODGE MOMENTUM INDEX IN APRIL

The Dodge Momentum Index declined in April after pullback in commercial
planning. It fell 5.1%, with the commercial component of the DMI falling 8% and
the institutional component improving .3%  [ watch video ]



DODGE MOMENTUM INDEX IN MARCH

The Dodge Momentum Index slipped 8.6% in March. The commercial component of the
DMI fell 6.6%, and the institutional component decreased 12.9%.  [ watch video ]



STARTS FOR THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY

Construction starts rose 6% in February, with residential and nonresidential
building starts rising 11% and 9% respectively, and nonbuilding starts declining
by 5%.  [ watch video ]



DODGE MOMENTUM INDEX IN FEBRUARY

After a 9% dip in January, the Dodge Momentum Index returned to growth in
February showing continued optimism for construction activity to grow in 2024.

DODGE MOMENTUM INDEX IN JANUARY

The Dodge Momentum Index dipped in January, falling 8.4% to 201.5 (2000=100)
from the revised December reading of 220.0. In January, the commercial component
of the DMI fell 10.0%, and the institutional component receded 4.7%.  [ watch

STARTS FOR THE MONTH OF DECEMBER

Manufacturing and infrastructure led the industry to a 27% rise in construction
