Book Great, Test Ok
I thought the first 20 pages of the book was stellar! It's getting you set up
for what's to come and a really good explanation of emotional intelligence. The
explanation of what you would learn and how to use the book was exceptional. I
had high hopes. Then I took the test. It fell flat. It took no time to take and
I don't feel it was a very deep assessment. Maybe I am biased because I recently
took Clifton Strengths (totally different assessment, measuring different
things) with my team at work and I felt that assessment was a much deeper dive.
I think there is still a lot to be learned. If you picked up this book and have
lived a few decades in your own skin you probably know some things about
yourself anyway. I pre-ordered this book because I wanted to read it first. We
are going to do a family book club with it.

I love this book, it is easy to read and understand and I use it like a "map for
navigating through daily life." I don't have room for a lot of books and I
choose my purchases carefully, but this is part of my small "must-have" book
collection and I gave it to all of the important people in my life. I plan on
giving it to a few more this holiday season. It gives you practical common sense
type of info but it also gives you what you need to maneuver in these times. My
parents did their best to teach me wisely and some of the information or lessons
in this book reminds me of their loving guidance. This is one of the books that
will have relevant information for generations and will go from family member to
family member. The author is also very available and answered a question for me
quickly when I reached out. If you are on the fence, go for it.

I did not know I needed to do a test 1st.
I went to listen to the book on a drive then a few minutes later realized that
the book is not read cover to cover.
I'm not even certain the code is in the CD case. I was super excited then
discouraged because I didn't realize the books format.
You read your weaknesses first then go from there. It makes sense I just would
have purchased the book form instead of CD form.
I'm still excited to take in the information just I need to wait until I get
back from my trip.

I like that this book is jam packed with very practical suggestions that are
proven by research to make a big difference at work and in life. The content is
very rich, so I started with the chapters that were suggested to me personally
in my Emotional Intelligence Appraisal Test first, then I went back and tackled
it from cover to cover. I can’t wait to share this book with others, it’s a good
one!

certified coach of over 10 years, this book is rich with examples, principles
and recommendations that work, if you stay curious, suspend disbelief and choose
to experiment with the recommendations.
This could become my very best strategy and idea book of the year, competing
with “Influence.”

First, the author brings up almost every self improvement tips in the world.
Some are good tips but it feels like shallow dot points of tips. 1000 dot points
of tips.
Author references stories about Oprah Winfrey, Bruce Lee, Roosevelt, CEOs etc.
What do these people have to do with EQ? I was more interested in the
experiences, struggles the average person experiences and how they improved
their social relationships and handling of emotions. Not much there.
I had high expectations because I saw good reviews but was quite disappointed.
