USE CASES AND DEPLOYMENT SCOPE

We have implemented SAP Integrated Business Planning for demand planning and

implementation was to have centralized visibility on the demand numbers and KPIs
across business units and to achieve one demand number concept in our company.

PROS

USE CASES AND DEPLOYMENT SCOPE

We use SAP Integrated Business Planning (IBP) to revolutionize our sales and
operation processes at a global planning level. In a prior life, all of our
demand and supply planning was taking place offline and then we were doing our
best to manipulate our MRP system to fulfill the final demand and material
supply requirements. We have also built a custom inventory optimizer that allows
for scenario modeling in an environment where our business models are changing
more frequently than we would like.

PROS

 * Planers love the excel add-in
 * Planning view design flexibility
 * Embedded Analytics that be customized to meet the business's needs
 * Ability to snapshot planning views and compare historical data

CONS

 * Application functionality could be expanded
 * IBP System Up-Time

LIKELIHOOD TO RECOMMEND

We only have access to the integrated business planning sales & operations
planning module, so there may be some limitations we experience that could be
solved by other modules. Overall, we have found that moving planners from their
offline processes to a structured, cloud system is much easier with the excel
plug in. They can operate in a tool they are more familiar with, but then have
access to even more functionality from the web ui (i.e. analytics)

we use the IBP to condiuct sales and operations planning as well to sustain the
stability of the entire supplz chain. In particular the demand sensing
functionality provided us with enormous benefits. Another functionality that has
been very helpful was the heuristic functionality in demand planning, in
particular for the sales planning in emerging markets

PROS

 * demand planning

CONS

 * integration features with AI apps

LIKELIHOOD TO RECOMMEND

Generally IBP is recomandable in complex market environments and dynamic supply
chains. In particular when we talk about the resilience of supply chains IBP is
a very sophisticated tool. One very practicable example is the demand sensing
functionality for sales scenarios in retail due to the fact that in this
industry perishable goods are traded.

USE CASES AND DEPLOYMENT SCOPE

SAP IBP in our organization is used for having a 360° vision of our business,
from product creation to sales monitoring and other KPIs monitoring. In my
personal experience, I used SAP IBP to monitor the most important KPIs and for
an analysis of the supply chain and, then advise the top management and the
product owner for adjustments in the production and design phase. Basically, a
complete vision of the supply chain allows me to have control of the entire
scenario and answer quickly to every answer that the top management asks me
about how the new products and services are performing. This also means that the
possibility to understand in an easy way what are the problems in the supply
chain or understand what kind of things could be changed or improved allows you
to adapt your business to the market, saving time and going into the market
before your competitors. Moreover, the possibility of having a lot of
integration channels gives you the possibility to switch fast from one scenario
(that could be good in the past) to a new one, even if only for a test.
Basically, this means a better ROI, both in terms of more revenues and cost
savings.

PROS

 * More accurate planning of your business.
 * Real time monitoring of KPIs.
 * You can take data- based decision in real time.

CONS

 * The trial version is very limited, but it's a trial! But for the awareness of
   the platform, SAP could improve the free version.
 * SAP IBP has a lot of functions, but not all are easy to understand and put
   into practice. Maybe a better demo would be a plus for the awareness of all
   of them.

LIKELIHOOD TO RECOMMEND

SAP IBP is a plus when you have to manage a business with different levels of
integrations with other systems and departments. The plus of SAP IBP, like the
other SAP systems, is the integration with different programs and clouds (such
as AWP) and for this reason, you can have in the same place everything you need
for your business: from the data collection to the business understanding
analysis, or the market analysis until the end such as the KPI monitoring. Its
use gives you a better experience in large and chaotic environments, and it
helps to have a clear vision and control of your business. It is less
appropriate for small businesses because the training for this platform is not
so easy, and for small businesses, in my opinion, it doesn't make sense to
invest time and effort to do it.

USE CASES AND DEPLOYMENT SCOPE

We work with various businesses clients, and suppliers, and we have issues
orchestrating all the requirements for handling our operations, reaching all our
business requirements and without exceeding our budget. SAP Integrated Business
Planning was a success once we decided to run our organization, allowing us to
unify all our data sources on-premise and off-premise in one platform that
anyone in our organization can use every day. With this solution, we can make an
effective following of the changes in our warehouse in conjunction with the
Operations and Sales teams.

PROS

 * Unify all data sources in one platform over the cloud and on-premise.
 * Make a success inventory and following changes at real time.
 * One platform that cross Operations, Sales and Support Teams.

CONS

 * A clearly user experience is required, all stuff is in some cases
   unorganised.
 * Difficult tasks for integrated with other systems.
 * Lack of compatibility with third-party software.

LIKELIHOOD TO RECOMMEND

Integrate SAP Integrated Business Planning in the daily operation of the core
business is easy if the use of SAP HANA Cloud requires to increase in budget and
is not possible for all types or sizes of organisations, but if your IT
department requires to connect to on-premise data, connect to other data
repositories on cloud or off-premise and customize reports for specific
businesses cases, these tasks can increase the projected costs and require to
adopt other SAP modules that can not be required at all.

USE CASES AND DEPLOYMENT SCOPE

I mostly use SAP Integrated Business Planning to build a better relationship
with my suppliers and also this helps me to ensure that we have an authentic
supply of products and services on a regular basis and during the time of
crisis. IBP also helps our team to build a transaction of information about the
products, such as our regular demand forecasts and current inventory data. This
would help us to work together and improve the efficiency of our supply chain.

PROS

 * Helps us to estimate close to accurate demand forecast
 * Helps to minimize the cost and boost the customer demand
 * Helps us to avoid stockouts and excess inventories.

CONS

 * The menus and tools bars are little complex to find in the dashboard of the
   software
 * The automation of the planning process lacks professionalism
 * There is no option available to create custom reports.

LIKELIHOOD TO RECOMMEND

As we are a car detailing company and we often experience a seasonal demand,
with more business during the warmer months and less business during the colder
months but SAP IBP basically helps us to plan for these seasonal demands of the
market by creating multiple planning scenarios according to every season.

USE CASES AND DEPLOYMENT SCOPE

We use Demand planning and Supply Planning in the IBP/SOP process. Demand
Planning for forecasting demand and supply planning for plant balancing for
demand/supply. Before it was excelbased feeding eventually APO but now replaced
by IBP globally although not fully demand and supply planning.

PROS

 * Excelbased in the cloud
 * One repository for data
 * user friendly
 * KPI measurement

CONS

 * SOE is a challenge in IBP
 * Monthly buckets only

LIKELIHOOD TO RECOMMEND

For large volumes, relatively stable it is a good tool. Also for
scenarioplanning demand/supply. For smaller volumes with volatile demand,
running in campaigns it is a challenge. Here more SOE is required and not sure
IBP is the right tool for this
