MIGUEL ALMIRON REINVENTION AS A RIGHT-SIDED ATTACKER AT NEWCASTLE

posted on October 9, 2022 by index in Paraguay

Miguel Almirón has played in a number of different roles at Newcastle United.
Since his arrival from Atlanta United in January 2019, the Paraguay
international’s enthusiasm, stamina and speed have made him a positionally
flexible player for the Magpies. However, since the start of last season,
Almirón has been earning more and more minutes on the right side of United’s
attack. Almirón started 2021/22 playing in central midfield, staying there until
October. He then dropped out of the starting eleven for a spell until returning
to the line-up to play on the right side of the attack in the Magpies’ first win
of the season – the 1-0 victory against Burnley last December.

After dropping back to the bench at the start of 2022, Almirón returned to the
side for the last-gasp defeat away to Chelsea in mid-March. This started a run
as first choice on the right side of Newcastle’s front three that would last
until the end of the campaign. A comparison of Almirón’s performances before and
after this game at Stamford Bridge is revealing. Consistent selection in the
same position and role in the team was followed by an uplift in his
performances.More Link

EVERTON REPORTEDLY INTERESTED IN NEWCASTLE UNITED STAR ALMIRON

posted on September 17, 2022 by index in Paraguay

Everton are showing interest in bringing Miguel Almiron to Goodison Park before
next Thursday’s deadline. That is according to The Guardian’s Ed Aarons, who
claims that Newcastle United will only sanction a permanent exit for the
28-year-old Paraguayan international. Everton are still winless in the Premier
League, and it seems Frank Lampard’s side faces the prospect of another
frustrating season at Goodison Park. And it is not just troubles on the pitch
that have blighted their season thus far.

Richarlison’s sale to Tottenham and the continued injury absence of Dominic
Calvert-Lewin have already come back to bite Everton, with the Toffees
struggling for both creativity and precision in the final third in their opening
three league games. And rumours regarding Anthony Gordon’s future are also
unraveling in the background.More Link

PRE-SEASON: ALMIRON ON SONG FOR NEWCASTLE

posted on July 26, 2022 by index in Paraguay

Paraguay international Miguel Almiron has been in good form since pre-season
started this summer. Almiron and his Newcastle United teammates are presently
preparing for the new season which starts in the first week of next month.

with a brace in the 5-1 win over Gateshead in a friendly game played behind

PARAGUAY WINLESS RUN EXTENDED TO THREE

posted on July 1, 2022 by index in Paraguay

South American nation Paraguay are now without a win in three games on the
international football scene after they played out a thrilling 2-2 draw with
hosts South Korea last week Friday. The two teams shared a four-goal thriller at
the end of their international friendly clash at the Suwon World Cup Stadium in
Suwon. The Paraguayans came into the South Korea game on the back of a two-match
winless run.

Paraguay raced into a two-goal lead against the South Koreans thanks to the
brace from Newcastle United attacking midfielder Miguel Almiron. The former
Atlanta United star scored a goal in each half to put his team in a fantastic
position. The first of his two goals arrived midway into the first half and it
gave Paraguay a slender advantage at the end of the first 45 minutes. Almiron
completed his brace to edge his team 2-0 ahead four minutes after restart. The
South Koreans fought back to avoid defeat from the position of trailing by two
goals at the start of the second half.More Link

ALMIRON GIVEN EIGHTY MINUTES AGAINST CITY

posted on May 21, 2022 by index in Paraguay

Paraguay star Miguel Almiron played eighty minutes of the Premier League clash
between his Newcastle United side and hosts Manchester City, but he could not
stop his team from being beaten heavily by the defending champions. The Paraguay
international was helpless as Manchester City thumped Newcastle United 5-0 at
home to move three points clear in the race for the Premier League title.

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe didn’t play Paraguay international Almiron
regularly at the start of his managerial reign at the club towards the end of
last year. The former Burnley and Bournemouth boss was named the new Newcastle
United manager in October 2021 in the place of the sacked Steve Bruce. Paraguay
attacking midfielder Almiron is getting a run in the Newcastle United starting
XI mainly due to the injury to Scottish winger Ryan Fraser who might not play
again this season.More Link

ALMIRON SCORES NEWCASTLE WINNER AGAINST PALACE

posted on April 27, 2022 by index in Paraguay

Paraguay national team star Miguel Almiron scored the only goal of the game as
Newcastle United moved closer to Premier League safety thanks to the 1-0 win at
home to FA Cup semifinalists Crystal Palace. The Paraguay international scored
in the first half off the assist from Brazilian international Bruno Guimares and
it proved to be the winning goal.

Newcastle United have been excellent at St. James Park in 2022 and once they
took the lead through Paraguay international Almiron shortly after the half hour
mark, the destination of the three points was never in doubt. The only goal of
the match was scored after 32 minutes on the clock.More Link

ALMIRON ON TARGET IN ECUADOR WIN

posted on March 30, 2022 by index in Paraguay

Newcastle United star Miguel Almiron was on target for Paraguay in the 3-1 home
win over Ecuador. Hosts Paraguay and Ecuador met in Quito for their penultimate
South American qualifier ahead of this year’s FIFA World Cup tournament on
Qatari soil.

Paraguay were already out of the race to qualify for Qatar 2022 by the time they
took on Ecuador at home, but that didn’t stop them from racing into a two-goal
lead at the end of the first 45 minutes. Robert Morales scored the first goal
for the Paraguayans on ten minutes before Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero
Hincapie put through his own net to double the lead for the home team in the
sixth minute of added time in the first half. Newcastle United player Almiron
added a third goal for Paraguay nine minutes into the second half to wrap up the
points for his team. CSKA Sofia striker Jordy Caicedo pulled one back for
Ecuador via a spot kick five minutes from time, but the goal was just a
consolation for the away team who were able to book their place in Qatar despite
the defeat.More Link

ALMIRON UNUSED SUBSTITUTE IN THRILLING DRAW

posted on December 7, 2021 by index in Paraguay

Paraguay national team attacker Miguel Almiron was an unused substitute as
Newcastle United and Brentford played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at the St. James
Park as the new managerial era under Eddie Howe got underway.

New manager Howe was unable to direct affairs from the Newcastle United dugout
after testing positive for COVID-19. His assistant, Jason Tindall replaced him
in the dugout for the home clash with newly promoted team Brentford. The Bees
had secured promotion to the Premier League in the summer after winning the
Championship playoffs and they made a bright start with 12 points from their
first seven games. Things then fell apart for the Bees leading up to Newcastle
United game. They came into the game on the back of a four-match losing run. In
the end, Brentford were able to stop the losing run with the result from the
Newcastle game.
