If your small business uses GoDaddy as your website host, then you probably have
a free GoDaddy email alias that is linked to the domain name of your website.
The way the system works, you will need to log in to your GoDaddy account
whenever you want to do any actions related to your email, such as sending,
receiving or simply checking any messages. But what if you have a Gmail account?




There is a GoDaddy email forwarding procedure that allows you to link your
GoDaddy email address to your Gmail account. That way, you can manage your email
correspondence much more easily and efficiently. Once your GoDaddy email is
linked to your Gmail account, you can easily send, receive and check messages
directly from your Gmail account.


ADD GODADDY DOMAIN EMAIL ADDRESS

In order to forward emails from your GoDaddy domain email to your Gmail account,
you will have to go to the "Import" tab on your Gmail to do the linking. The tab
can easily be accessed by signing into your Gmail and clicking on the “Settings”
button. This button is in the top right corner of your Gmail app. Once there,
click on the button labeled “Accounts and Import” that sits next to the
"General" tab. A screen will appear titled “Send mail as.” There you can click
on the button labeled “Send mail from another address” and you will see a pop-up
window. You will enter your name and your GoDaddy email address. Once you’re
done click on “Next Step.”





ENTER SMTP SERVER INFORMATION

Once you’ve entered your GoDaddy email, Gmail will ask you for your SMTP server
information. In case you have no idea what this information is or where to find
it, simply click on the “Help” button at the top of the screen and click on the
button labeled “Email Client Settings.” There you will find your POP3 and SMTP
settings.

Once on the settings page, click the button labeled “Send through Address.com
SMTP server.” You should type in the name of your SMTP server and open the
drop-down menu that follows to click on port 465. Then you can type in your
GoDaddy domain email and your password and select the option “Always use a
secure connection (SSL) when sending mail.”

Make sure to double-check your settings so you don’t make any mistakes. You can
now click on “Add Account.” Gmail will verify the settings you entered. Now all
emails you send with your Gmail will appear as if they’ve come from your GoDaddy
email.


ADD POP3 EMAIL ACCOUNT

Once you’re done with everything, go back to the settings page and click
“Accounts and Import.” Scroll down till you find the section labeled “Check mail
using POP3.” Click “Add a POP3 email account” and enter your GoDaddy email
address, and then click “Next Step.” You will have to type your email address
and password on the next page.

You can now add your POP server and port. Your POP server information is very
easy to find. Simply click on “Email Client Settings,” open the drop-down menu,
and select port 110. Do not check the “Leave a copy of retrieved message” box or
the “Always use a secure connection (SSL)” box.


CONFIRM THE EMAIL LINK

Your Gmail account will send a confirmation email to your GoDaddy email address.
Simply click on the link that comes with the email to complete the process. It
might be a good idea to send out a test email to your GoDaddy address to make
sure your settings are all correct. Compose a message in your Gmail, then click
the “From” button to pick your GoDaddy email address. If the email fails to
send, then one or more of your settings are incorrect and you will have to go
back and make a correction.
