My name is Kathryne McCracken, and I am a Massage and Myofascial Therapist. I started my training in bodywork in 2008, and in 2013 I turned my focus to Myofascial Therapy. Based on Structural Integration, the focus of Myofascial Therapy is to bring the body into alignment by releasing scar tissue and adhesions in the soft tissues that are pulling the osseous structures out of alignment. The soft tissues of the body work like the strings of a marionette, and if you have ever gotten a knot in the strings of a marionette, you know how difficult it can be to restore it to being fully functional. Advancements in fascia research has taught us how to release the knots in the soft tissues of the body that are pulling our bones out of alignment. This is vital to our health, strength, and quality of life as studies in the etiology of osteoarthritis have proven that it is caused by chronically misaligned joints. Old fashioned deep tissue massage was to “sharpen your elbow” and dig in. All that did was hurt and has, with advancements in fascia research, been proven ineffective. Like so many in my profession, I came to it after a lifetime of pain that conventional medicine couldn't help, but Myofascial Therapy did.
