Connecting the disconnected – Why 2023 is the year of Frontline Communication

Driving frontline employee engagement has never been easy – but it’s never been
more important than today. 55% of frontline workers are looking to leave their
jobs in the next 6 months. Despite, the corporate world having undergone
significant digital transformation, frontline workers still find themselves
operating in the dark ages, lacking the communication tools to connect them to
their organization and the flexibility available to their corporate
counterparts. In the wake of COVID-19 and in the midst of the ongoing Great
Resignation and demographic change, keeping frontline workforces engaged,
informed and connected has become business critical. Internal Communicators are
best positioned to bridge the link between frontline workers and their
organizations.

In this session, we will give answers on:

•    How the role of Internal Communications has changed, especially with
regards to frontline engagement.

•    What role Technology plays when it comes to reaching, engaging, and
retaining frontline workers.

•    What needs to be done to ensure that Internal Communicators are seen as
strategic business partner when it comes to solving the most pressing challenges
of today’s work environments.

Introduction to Challenge your Peers session
01.07.2024
16:00 - 16:10 (GMT+01:00) Berlin

WHAT IS CHALLENGE YOUR PEERS?

In the Challenge Your Peers session, you have the opportunity to engage in an
interactive exchange with your peers as well as solution providers in order to
generate different ideas on the same issue.

The topics were selected according to the current challenges of the community.
The moderator will ask you questions and together with you will debate your
ideas with the help of a mind map. Use the opportunity to put your questions to
the round and put possible solutions to the test.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS LIKE?

Participants divide themselves among the round tables according to their
interests. Each round table will have a moderator to stimulate and guide the
discussion. For this purpose, the discussion questions are clearly visible to
all participants in the form of a mind map posted on a bulletin board.

The discussion is opened, whereby the moderator can begin by reading out the
theses/questions, thus picking up the participants thematically. In this way,
the participants can exchange ideas on the respective topic, contribute their
specific aspects, discuss new concepts, and design solution concepts with the
help of collective intelligence. Finally, innovation paths are developed on the
mind map.

Introduction to Challenge your Peers session
01.07.2024
16:00 - 16:10 (GMT+01:00) Berlin
Saal C

Finally, innovation paths are developed on the
mind map.

WHAT IS A WORLD CAFÉ?

The World Café sessions are designed to help you discuss with colleagues and
peers similar issues and challenges that everyone is facing in the industry.

Not only will the conversation be moderated by an expert speaker, the aim of the
session is to find real solutions to real-world problems with the 5 rounds of
this session. Share you knowledge during the World Café session and deepen your
networking experience!

HOW IS IT ORGANISED?

Based on the theory of the power of collective knowledge, participants are
brought together to share challenges and jointly gain new perspectives and
develop solutions. 12-15 participants are allocated to the offered World Café
session tables. The host (moderator, possibly with co-moderator) of each round
table welcomes the guests and briefly introduces controversies, challenging or
project-related questions.

After 30 to 35 minutes, participants move to the next table based on the
assigned order on their name badge to enter into a new discussion. At the
beginning of each new World Café round, the moderator gives a short conclusion
of previously discussed aspects and questions emerged. This offers the
opportunity to build upon the discussion continuously. Be part of several
thematic conversation rounds with changing topics and team constellations – Join
our unique World Cafe Sessions!

INTRODUCTION TO CHALLENGE YOUR PEERS ROUNDTABLE SESSIONS
01.07.2024
16:00 - 16:10 (GMT+01:00) Berlin
Saal B

Finally, innovation paths are developed on the
mind map.

How to build a culture of belonging and learning?

UNHCR is a global organization of 20000+ employees. Over the past couple of
years we have been undergoing a transformation of the way we work, and the way
we make an impact on our people, so that they make an impact on the world. As an
agile HR organization, we are changing the old ways of working that are typical
for a large international organization. But to start with any digital
transformation, we want our people to be on board, and to create a culture that
connects people both digitally and physically.

In this presentation you will learn:

 * How our cultural and digital transformation strategy encourages people to be
more proactive, when it comes to connecting and learning
 * Why this is better than many classic approaches

Slovakia, Hungary and Bulgaria. The Belgian IT department faced a challenge last
year to onboard 150 new hires, half of them were young graduates. Since the

table welcomes the guests and briefly introduces controversies, challenging or
project-related questions.
