POLICE SEARCHING FOR MAN AFTER GUN FIRED AT AUCKLAND MOTEL

Police are searching for a suspect after a gun was discharged at a motel in
Papatoetoe in Auckland last night.

Officers were alerted to reports of an “altercation” at a motel on Great South
Rd about 6.10pm yesterday, a police spokesperson said.

“A firearm was fired. The person allegedly involved left the area on foot.

“At this time, although they have not been located, police are pursuing positive
lines of inquiry, which include reviewing a significant amount of CCTV footage
available in and around the area.

“Fortunately, no injuries have been reported in connection with this matter,”
the spokesperson said.

The Papatoetoe community was told to expect an increased police presence in the
area today as the investigation continues.
