RemindSign up Juan Rivas R Homeroom-Rivas-YR-ELE9151-06 Hello Kindergarten families, We hope you are well. We like to take a moment to share with you that next week we will begin our DIBELS and Lectura reading assessments for the middle of the school year. Your child has had a chance to practice in our classroom the letter sounds and how to put sounds together into words. The assessments will track their progress to see if they made progress. It is important that students understand to perform to the best of their abilities. We ask that you take a moment to talk to your child that they can do their best while not feeling scared. We want to ensure that they can do well with a calm mind. Also, we encourage you to help practice them practice their letter sounds as well as how they use them. Examples of the assessments include: - Letter names: Students recognize the letters in both upper- and lowercase forms - Phonemic Awareness: The teacher says a words and the student breaks the word into sounds (ex: cat -> /c/ /a/ /t/) - Letter sounds/ decoding: Students read a word by sounding out the letter sounds and put it together ( /t/ /i/ /p/ -> tip) - Word reading: Students see a word and they read what it is The resources previously provided to you will help your child to practice their tricky words as well as their letter sounds. Lastly, please continue to help your child with Boost as the program helps to keep track of your child's reading progress. I will put up the pages for the math homework on a later time. If you have any questions, please let us know. Thank you for your time and enjoy your weekend. + + + + + React to this messageNo-one has reacted yet. Be the first!
