Jon Derbyster1 day ago Photo byWendell AdrielonUnsplash The City of Durant and SE Oklahoma are in for some exciting news! Durant Emergency Management recently announced that the Baron Radar radome has been installed on top of the Cardinal Glass water tower. This marks a significant step in providing the region with the radar coverage it has long been waiting for. The installation of the Baron Radar radome is a great achievement for the community. This technology is capable of providing critical weather information, which can be vital in situations where severe weather is expected. Once the installation and training are complete, the radar will be up and running in just a few short weeks. What makes this installation unique is that the National Weather Service (NWS) is not putting gap filler radars anywhere. This means that the Baron Radar radome is a way for SE Oklahoma to receive radar coverage that has been long overdue. And the best part? The public will have access to this radar information. Durant Emergency Management is currently developing apps for both Apple and Google Play, which will allow anyone to use this technology. Funded by the State of Oklahoma, the Baron Radar radome will provide radar coverage for approximately 85 miles. This means that people in the region will be able to access up-to-date weather information, which could potentially save lives during severe weather conditions. But that's not all. The Baron Radar radome will also be integrated into common weather apps like Radarscope, making it easier for people to access the information they need. In conclusion, the installation of the Baron Radar radome is a great achievement for the City of Durant and SE Oklahoma. This technology will provide the region with vital weather information that could potentially save lives. And with the development of apps for both Apple and Google Play, anyone will be able to access this information. So let's celebrate this great day for Durant and SE Oklahoma!
