Brunswick Review Interview
Antonio Ortolani, Brunswick Review, 11th June 2018

I had the pleasure of being profiled in the Brunswick Review's Words Issue,
where I described my belief in the power of words and my vision to apply AI when
I founded Quid, realizing that very little had been done to use computers to
"read" and that there was a whole field to open up using Natural Language
Processing to unlock the world's vast written data.

You can read the full interview here.

Quid Helps Walmart Build the 2018 American Family Report
Bentonville, AR, 22nd January 2018

Proud to share Quid and Walmart co-published another American Family Today
Report, following the success of the 2017 Report. As I noted in the Report, we
have never had more public information to reveal the shifting demands on the
family, and it has never been more important for governments and companies to
understand these changes.

By analyzing customer transaction data from its 140 million weekly shoppers
around the country, Walmart identified trends [that will shape American Families
in 2018 and beyond] and generational, geographic, and socioeconomic forces at
work behind them. Quid complemented this by leveraging its artificial
intelligence and natural language processing technologies to analyze hundreds of
thousands of unstructured data sources, including top-tier news outlets, trade
journals, lifestyle blogs, along with funding trends for privately funded
businesses. Continue reading the full Report here

How I Picked a Winning Investment Portfolio
San Francisco, CA, 21 July 2017 (updated 6 July 2018)

The World Economic Forum published an article describing the methodology I used
to pick 50 promising startups that - had they been real investments - would have
been the 2nd-best performing portfolio of the last two decades. The article was
the Forum's most-read story for July with over 100k views in just a week!

You can read the full article here and view the video the Forum produced below:

Business Insider also published the methodology, following the original article
by Bloomberg.

Joining Founders for Change
I joined the Founders for Change movement, as I strongly believe that diversity
results in a more innovative and inclusive workplace. From the beginning, I
purposefully built Quid to encompass a range of backgrounds, viewpoints, and
experiences; Quid's first 50 hires represented over two dozen nationalities,
split evenly between men and women.

"I believe in a more diverse and inclusive tech industry. I am dedicated to
having a diverse team and board, and when I have a choice of investment partners
in the future, the diversity of their firms will be an important consideration."
#FoundersForChange

Currently, in addition to working with an outside expert - Dr. Drika Weller - on
Diversity & Inclusion, we have a D&I Committee made up of myself and passionate
employees across all departments to address issues such as gender parity,
unconscious bias, and underrepresented groups in tech.

Attending the Annual Meeting in Davos
Davos, Switzerland, January 2018

I had an engaging time attending the World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting in
Davos, where I was invited to speak at several sessions for the Technology
Pioneers program, including Where the Technologies of the Fourth Industrial
Revolution Meet Social Entrepreneurship and Innovative Tech for Shared Returns.

Quid received the Technology Pioneers Award (2016-2018) for contributions
towards the Future of the Internet, alongside Slack and Blockchain, and I
recently served on the Forum's AI & Robotics Future Council.
