David R. Hawkins, M.D., Ph.D., is Director of the Institute for Spiritual
Research, Inc. He is a widely known authority within the field of consciousness
research. He writes and teaches from the unique perspective of an experienced
clinician, scientist, and teacher. He has been honored worldwide with many
titles. His background is detailed in Who’s Who in the World. Dr. Hawkins has
lectured widely at universities including Harvard and Oxford and also to
spiritual groups from Westminster Abbey and Notre Dame to Catholic, Protestant,
and Buddhist monasteries. His life is devoted to the upliftment of mankind. His

... the narration is not good as the author's voice is monotonous. I loved the
book - a must-read for all of us interested in growing spiritually. I placed it
in my bookshelf where I can easily find as rereading it keeps me grounded, more
energetically focused, and reminds me where to funnel my energy.
That is the reason I purchased the Audible version so I could listen to it while
walking. David's writing is powerful but his reading is not lively. You will not
regret purchasing the printed version. In fact, by the time you finish reading
it you will notice a marked difference in your life already. But stay away from
the audio version.

This author is making up a lot of nonsense and trying to tell you it’s real. His
PhD is from a defunct online university, his main claim to authenticity is a
single test of deltoid strength under exposure to different influences.....the
higher more stronger, he wants to say. But it’s just plan silly. He’s concocted
a number scale for human psychological states that is supposedly
calibrated....ya right. And leprechauns are living your garden, you just can’t
see them. He actually says a human stop a charging locomotive with one finger if
he knows the place to touch. You find that plausible? Later he makes a
linguistic flop, saying that by giving someone in a “hypoglycemic” state sugar
you will weaken them and their resistance on all revealing deltoid press down
scale (applied kinesiology). He is a MD remember. Wouldn’t a hypoglycemic person
need sugar? Wouldn’t that be beneficial. Of course what are we even talking
about by “sugar”. A spoonful of, or an apple...oh who knows, it’s a mess. Stay
away.

choices.

So this book starts with some big words, some smart one-liners. The author talks
about chaos theory, causality, inferences, epistemology, how we come to
conclusions, he mentions some big names like Einstein, Boher, Isaac Newton and
for those of you who love scientific words, he has sprinkled those at start as
well. He has also gotten few big names to write forward for him and last but not
least the author himself has PhD and he was a MD. I also love how he mentioned
that it took him decades to write this book, using the rhetoric of time to trick
the reader.
I had to stop reading after few pages because I couldn't take the hocus pocus
the author was getting into. This review could turn into a book of its own if I
were to discuss all the tricks/strategies the author has used to trick people
into believing him but I will mention few:
1. He associates his ideas to chaos theory and scientific discovery to give it a
tone of authority. This is a trick a lot of people use to make others believe
their ideas/research is real.
2. He has 10000000s of reasons why results may not show up like his but the
results that did show up what he was expecting he doesn't mention anything about
those. For instance, if your number doesn't match what he was expecting then you
are lying or you are married or you are wearing a ring or that you are
controlling your emotions. But what about the people that got the exact number
he was expecting weren't some of those married? Weren't some of them lying?
Weren't some of them wearing rings or perfume? Yes he mentions having a perfume
can distort the result as well but apparently when results are what he was
expecting it's not a big deal.
3. There's a lot of scientific jargon which I believe fools a lot of people
thinking that what the author is saying is probably real.
4. There are also some fancy quotes like one I read was: "Truth cannot be
disproved by falsehood anymore than light can be by darkness." Ya right but you
(the author) can prove why others are not truthful by mentioning 100000 reasons
why they didn't get the results you were expecting but no reasons why you got
results from same people that met all those 100000 reasons which caused results
to be negative for others? I could also say that truth cannot be disproved by
giving reasons to confirm your bias.
This book is loaded with confirmation bias, and sneaky tactics to make you
believe in this bs.
The only good thing about this book is that I like the "Title" and also
strategies/tactics the author uses to trick people into believing his bs ideas.
Anyone who thinks this book is worth reading should really spend some time
pondering over how they make decisions and how they process information. While I
won't get into the epistemology of knowledge or how to use rhetorics to trick
and fool people what I do suggest is that people read these two books:
How We Know What Isn't So: The Fallibility of Human Reason in Everyday Life by
Thomas Gilovich
Psychology of Intelligence Analysis Paperback by Richards J. Heuer
If you are reading my review after reading few pages of this book then throw it
away and get those two books I have suggested it will change your life and how
you make decisions. Don't let sunk cost fallacy get to you.
There are far better books. As a great philosopher once said, a tree that falls
makes more noise than a forest that grows. These type of books make a lot of
noise but that's it, it's NOISE.

subconscious, and in my particular training, the superconscious), and someone
who has had kinesiology used many, many times successfully, by numerous
alternative health practitioners over many years, I found this book to be quite
profound. It wove many different things I am quite familiar with into a much
broader fabric, and deeper understanding - confirming so much that I already
know, but carrying it much farther as well.
It's hard for me to say if this would be a great resource for someone who is new
to these subjects. However, if you have exposure to this vein of thought, this
is an excellent read. I would expect, that if you are interested enough to have
made it as far as reading reviews, it's probably a good pick.

When I first started this book I couldn’t grasp the concepts that well, then I
went through I guess a mini spiritual awakening 8 months later and returned back
to the book with a deeper understanding, it made so much more sense. Lose your
mind and it’s great! But truly, before I was operating fully from my ego and
when he said most people are in low consciousness levels I was like ‘nope that
isn’t me I think he got this bit wrong’. But it does make sense. When you don’t
truly 100% love yourself and you still consciously and subconsciously operate in
the same patterns of behaviour (some of which are rooted in shame and guilt) you
can never truly ascend. Be kind to yourself, forgive yourself and love your
inner child and you will see a difference in your life. Things that bothered you
before won’t hold so much weight against you. It can be a challenging read but
it is great. I recommend reading any Joe Dispenza book before this one as it is
more accessible.

slightly tedious as David Hawkins talks you through a special arm raising
physical test that can be used to see how much 'power' a certain person or thing
has. After feeling your way through this section you learn more about how power
levels change as you move through different emotions. It is a very interesting
read for the curious minded and I would recommend this to those who are open
minded.

A long read . The book started off well with a good section discussing
Kinesiology and how the body does not lie with its responses . The human mind is
like a computer terminal connected to a giant database up in the sky somewhere.
A testing method is also described in the book for a Calibration test that can
be performed on anything or anyone and anyone who calibrates over 200 ( map of
consciousness ) are able to get accurate results . They can perform any test to
determine what is supportive of life and what is not . A practical map of the
energy fields of consciousness is shown and discussed .
Good book overall , got a little dreary in the middle hence the 4 x star instead
of 5 but recovered well again towards the end.

Here is the author on the subject of Universe (page 376):
"There may seem to be an infinite number of dimensions to our universe. The
familiar three-dimensional universe of conventional consensus is only one, and
is merely an illusion created by our senses. The space between planetary bodies
is not empty, but filled with a sea of energy; the potential energy in one
square inch can be said to be as great at as that of the whole mass of the
physical universe."
. . . and so on and so forth!
Note, Hawkins selects surface rather than volume "between planetary bodies",
though why he should choose items from the solar system rather than
inter-galactic space is a little modest on his part!
The author of this review (a practicing astronomer of 60 years experience)
produced a 74-page book entitled "What Universe?" that included the script from
a 50-minute lecture for BBC Radio Orkney given in February 2017, and that is
still accessible online. Here, universe is conceived as a process and NOT a
structure
