FOR PROMOTING AND BRIDGING GAPS IN THE TRANSLATION PROCESS FROM RESEARCH IN
PHYSICS, ENGINEERING, BIOLOGY, AND IT TO MEDICAL APPLICATIONS IN CANCER CARE, WE

MIDDLE-INCOME COUNTRIES.

Translation of research towards novel, widely available treatments


OUR COLLABORATIONS

We are a dynamic foundation, located in Geneva, in a key location to be able to
easily collaborate with CERN and other high-level Swiss and international
research institutions.


OUR HISTORY

TERA is world-known for its contributions to hadron therapy, a technique aimed
at treating solid tumours by irradiating them with beams of hadrons, in
particular protons and carbon ions

ABOUT US


TERA-CARE FOUNDATION

We are the spinoff of the Italian TERA Foundation, established in 1992 in
Novara, Italy. TERA is world-known for its contributions to hadron therapy, a
technique aimed at treating solid tumours by irradiating them with beams of
hadrons, in particular protons and carbon ions.

With strong links to CERN – the European Laboratory for particle Physics –TERA
has given rise to successful offshoots, including the ion therapy National
Centre for Oncological Hadron Therapy (CNAO) in Pavia, Italy, where 4800
patients have been treated.
