TELECOMMUNICATIONS REGULATIONS - The Communications Regulatory Authority of
Namibia (CRAN) led by its Acting CEO Katrina Sikeni today met with the ICT
Deputy Minister, Hon Emma Theofelus to brief her on CRAN’s new agreement with
the Namibia Revenue Authority (NamRA). Sikeni informed the Deputy Minister that
the signing was a renewal of an existing agreement that the regulator had with
the Ministry of Finance's Customs and Exercise Department before the
establishment of NamRA. The MoU is aimed at protecting the public from harm that
may be caused by devices that do not have the type of approval to operate in
Namibia. The parties committed to strengthening communications and public
awareness on this matter to ensure that Namibians continue to benefit from this
agreement. The Acting CEO was accompanied by the Head of Electronic
Communication, Ronel le Grange and the Manager for Electronic Communication and
Projects, Kristof Itana.
