Celebrating the African American Studies Program and Minor
As a younger student, Joseph sensed a disconnect in his education, especially
the limited focus on the contributions of African Americans. Things changed when
he came to BSU.


ELIZABETH EZEKIEL, ’23

Curating the Work of Artist Lavett Ballard
Art history major Elizabeth wanted to highlight the work of a Black woman
artist. An assignment in proposal writing led to an actual exhibit of Lavett
Ballard’s collages at Bridgewater.
