FEATURED ERBALUCE DI CALUSO

Cieck, "Metodo Classico", 2017Reno Falconiere spends his time late in his career
advising sparkling wine producers throughout the region. That is because since
the mid 1980's he and his estate have been the benchmark for quality Spumante
Erbaluce di Caluso. Farmed in the alpine hills of Piedmont since at least the
early seventeenth century, Erbaluce still gets lost amid all the quality wines
of the Langhe. Produced to the exact standards of Champagne or better, there is
a reason this tiny appellation was awarded DOCG status in 2010, and continues to
draw deserved attention vintage after vintage.98

FEATURED PIEMONTESE WHITE

Langhe, Luigi Baudana, "Dragon", 2021Recently named a UNESCO World Heritage Site
for its vineyard landscape, the Langhe region of Piedmont is one of the most
favorable places for growing vines in the world. Met with the grandeur of
endless folding hillsides planted predominantly to indigenous grapes, it's
tempting for one to imagine almost ANY grape variety's potential to thrive
there. "Dragon" puts this to the test, blending international varieties
Chardonnay, Sauvignon, and Riesling with the native Nascetta. While
traditionalists may argue that only local grapes fully express the sacred
terroir of the Langhe, Baudana saw the potential to expand the magic of Piedmont
with this beautifully fresh and vibrant expression. Plus, the wine is literally
called "Dragon", wait until you see the label.64

FEATURED ELBA ANSONICA

Cecilia, 2021Though the southern Tuscan island of Elba is known mostly for its
red dessert wines, a native white grape called Ansonica is one of the island's
best kept secrets. The grape produces a unique white wine with distinct notes of
fresh tropical fruit, a touch of salinity, and a naturally viscous texture
blanketed around refreshing acidity. With such little acreage under vine of this
rare grape, this wine is a special point of pride for the Camerini family, who
currently run the small Cecilia estate.66

FEATURED GRECO DI TUFO

Fonzone, 2019What's in a name, you ask? Well, when it comes to Greco di Tufo,
the name tells you everything you need to know about this historic white wine.
Greco, the grape variety, was said to be introduced to the Irpinia region in the
heart of Campania by the Pelasgians, an ancient people from Thessaly in Greece.
Tufo refers to the soil of the region, which is comprised of compacted volcanic
ash deposited from thousands of years of eruptions in the area. Combined, they
make a wine of character and balance that is sure to be enjoyed by any white
wine lover, so don't forget the name.78

AMERICAN WHITE WINE

FEATURED VERMENTINO

Ryme, "Hers", Los Carneros, 2020Ryme Cellars is a collaboration between husband
and wife Ryan and Megan Glaab, whose passion for the distinctive character of
Italian wines married with the sunny slopes of Northern California set them
apart from a sea of Cab and Pinot producers. With a primary focus on Italian
grapes, they strongly believe that a grape variety's popularity does not define
its nobility. Vermentino, a wine of tragically untapped potential, is
masterfully displayed in "Hers", where angular meets round, in a mouthwatering
array of bright and briny layers of soft fruits.88

FEATURED MAGNUM

Fiano di Avellino, Colli di Lapio, "Romano Clelio", 2017The windblown slopes of
Campania's mountains host some of the most spectacular vineyards in Italy,
planted to varieties that have been cultivated since the time of the ancient
Greeks. Owner and winemaker Clelia Romano crafts this textbook example of one of
the regions most important white grapes, Fiano, from clay-rich soils in
vineyards reaching 1,800 ft of elevation. Combining a rounded texture and lifted
aromatics, this is a perfect white wine to use as an aperitif on its own or
paired with our Squash Blossoms. Served out of a magnum, this is an undeniable
declaration of being determined to bring the party!115

RED WINE

FEATURED RED HALF BOTTLE

Toscana, Tenuta San Guido, "Guidalberto", 20201968 was the inaugural vintage of
the original "Super Tuscan" wine: "Sassicaia", an homage to the rocky place
where Cabernet Sauvignon vines were first planted in Bolgheri. This premium
wine, made with grapes foreign to Tuscany, could only be labeled as "Vino da
Tavola" (table wine) until their popularity inspired a revolution of the modern
Italian wine-making laws near the turn of the 21st century. The estate's modern
"Guidalberto" bottling embodies the same progressive, quality-minded philosophy
of it's "big brother", and is sourced from the same vineyards. This classic
blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot is as big and beautiful as the name
"Super Tuscan" inspires.102

Vallana, 2007As we enter an era when Barolo and Barbaresco join the ranks of
Grand Cru Burgundy and Bordeaux collections around the world, high quality
ageworthy Nebbiolo at a value is becoming a rarity. Boca, one of the smallest
and Northernmost regions in Italy, is almost entirely surrounded by glaciers fed
by Monte Rosa, the 2nd highest peak in Europe. Vallana has been making
time-honored traditional Nebbiolo (locally known as 'Spanna') since the winery
was formed in 1937. Fifth-generation winemaker Francis Vallana carries on his
family's classic style to this day. We proudly offer this beautiful '07 with
nearly a decade and a half of bottle age...at this price? You may want two.99

FEATURED BARBERA D'ALBA

Costa di Bussia, "Campo di Gatto", 2019In the rolling Langhe hills of Piedmont,
provenance is everything. Being able to denote specific vineyard sites is a
sure-fire way to infer style and quality. Historically reserved for top Barolo
and Barbaresco bottlings, we are seeing a growing number of Barberas with
single-vineyard designates on their labels. The south-facing Campo di Gatto plot
within the fame Bussia vineyard contains 50 year old Barbera vines and yields a
fuller and more complex style, showcasing the grape's potential when planted in
its ideal location.79

BAROLO

FEATURED BAROLO

Marrone, 2015Whether you're a vintner, enologist, sommelier, or simply a lover
of fine wine, all would agree that Barolo stands among the most elite wines of
the world. Just as Burgundy lovers forever debate the nuances of Vosne-Romanée
versus, say, Gevrey-Chambertin, Barolo enthusiasts of today discuss structural
differences and aromatic distinctions found in each of Barolo's unique subzones.
Marrone sources from vineyard sites in the communes of La Morra and Castiglione
Falletto, in the heart of Barolo, from soils comprised of clay and limestone,
resulting in an elegant and refined style.139

FEATURED BAROLO "CRU"

Broglio, Schiavenza, 2016The Schiavenza winery was started in 1956 by brothers
Vittorio and Ugo Alessandria in the heart of the Serralunga d'Alba commune. The
estate and surrounding vines were traditionally worked by sharecroppers, and
thus the winery was named Schiavenza after the local dialect for sharecropper.
The Broglio cru is generally regarded as a vigorous plot, sitting at 360m with
south-east exposure and a larger amount of clay in the top soil. This yields a
wine of wonderful balance and power, and one that can be consumed at a younger
age, but also has incredible aging potential. We're catching this wine somewhere
in between with the 2016 vintage--enough age to soften the tannins, but young
enough to allow the wine to evolve in the glass.178

Ca' del Baio, "Autinbej", 2019Once kept in the shadows of family business in
Patriarchal Italy, recent societal changes are bringing forth a new generation
of women in wine. Among these rising stars are three sisters, Paola, Valentina,
and Federica Grasso, the now fourth generation proprietors and vintners of Ca'
del Baio. They farm 4 different crus from within the Barbaresco winegrowing area
and blend them to make "Autinbej". Perhaps it's the 40-year old Nebbiolo vines,
maybe its the female touch, but this is Barbaresco at its finest: elegance,
finesse, and substantive depth.111

THE WINES OF ANGELO GAJA

FEATURED GAJA HALF BOTTLE

Barbaresco, Gaja, 2011Angelo Gaja is the man credited for bringing the small
commune of Barbaresco out of obscurity. His influence has changed the way the
world views Italian wine to this day. A master of Nebbiolo--the austere, tannic
grape once considered only quaffable after decades of bottle age. Angelo saw its
potential as a world class wine. Despite pushback from his peers, he employed
new (and what most considered outlandish) practices both in the vineyard and the
winery to promote freshness and elegance in his wine.375mL 298

CHIANTI

FEATURED CHIANTI COLLI SENESI

Montenidoli, "Il Garrulo", 2019Chianti has always been centered between Florence
and Sienna, and this wine comes from the subzone around the hills of the latter
or "Colli Senesi." Montenidoli is synonymous with its proprietor, Elisabetta
Fagiuoli in the sense that it reflects the best of gastronomic Italy: when the
simple becomes the complex. Situated outside of the walled city of San Gimignano
the wine is reminiscent of great Chianti in that it has depth, character, and
complex tasting notes; yet it is approachable and integrates well into the
entire dining experience. "Il Garrulo" and Elisabetta have become staples of the
sommelier community; both have personalities we crave more of but in reality it
is their rareness that we appreciate.68

Salcheto, 2015There is often an assumption in the wine world that progress
underminds tradition. Salcheto is a modern winery in one of Italy's most
historic wine communities, Montepulciano. They make classic, terrior reflective
wines utilizing sustainable practices unparalleled anywhere on the planet. They
were the first company in the world to have certified the carbon footprint of a
bottle of wine (even inventing their own lightweight glass bottles!), their
cellar system is completely energy independent and their vineyards are farmed
organically via composting. They quite literally operate off the grid, saving
more energy than they use! 2015 was a warm, balanced standout vintage throughout
Tuscany and it truly shines through in this Riserva's depth and character88

BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO

FEATURED BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO

Castello Romitorio, 2006"Classic" Brunello di Montalcino is getting harder to
define. New producers, French barrels, growing disparity between the North and
South of the appellation all have lead to myriad styles. However, if there is
one estate that embodies Classic Brunello, it is the heralded Castello
Romitorio. Founded in 1984, perched among the high elevation northwest side of
Montalcino, the winemakers work harmoniously with traditional vinification
methods and sustainable viticulture to create terroir driven, balanced, and
structured wines. While Brunello styles may differ, the respect for the vintage
is paramount among all estates. The wine serves anecdotally to show the power of
naturally growing Tuscany's greatest grape in its purest form.169

FEATURED BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO RISERVA

Franco Pacenti, 2012Brunello di Montalcino has risen to be the premier
interpretation of Tuscan Sangiovese. At the Riserva level, it ranks among some
of the highest aging requirements of any other table wine in the world. By law,
it may not be released until the 6th year following harvest, and is mandated to
mature in oak for a minimum of two years. Full in body, a Riserva designated
Brunello expresses all the traditional flavors one expects from the varietal
with an emphasis on black cherry, chocolate notes, and a dark earthiness. The
resulting wine is a more pronounced, luxurious bottling that only the hill of
Montalcino can provide.219

FEATURED BOLGHERI

Tenuta Argentiera, "Villa Donoratico", 2019The Super Tuscan movement began in
the early 1970s and quickly gained favor amongst collectors and casual wine
drinkers alike. These wines were made famous by incorporating non-native grapes
including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. Tenuta Argentiera's
"Villa Donoratico" masterfully blends these Tuscan-grown varietals to create a
powerful yet elegant style that stands up against the best of Napa and
Bordeaux.139

"RESERVE" SUPER TUSCANS

FEATURED PRODUCERS

The term "Super Tuscan" was coined by American journalists who welcomed these
fuller-bodied, more polished Tuscan reds to the market. At a time when a
majority of Tuscan wines were synonymous with thin, mediocre table wine, a few
restless vintners set out to challenge the status quo. The wines were
enthusiastically received by critics and ultimately led to a wine quality
renaissance in Tuscany that has been on the rise ever since! The first bottle
associated with the movement was Tenuta San Guido's 1968 "Sassicaia", vinified
from Cabernet grapes on the Tuscan coast of Bolgheri. On the wave of their uncle
Mario's overnight success with Sassicaia, nephews Piero and Lodovico Antinori
adopted their own unique style with the release of Tignanello, Solaia, and
Ornellaia. We proudly offer a library of these world class wines from our
cellar, many of which only a handful of bottles still exist.

FEATURED VALPOLICELLA CLASSICO SUPERIORE

Domìni Veneti, "Verjago", 2017The serene and picturesque region of Valpolicella
lies anchored between the ancient city of Verona to the south, Lake Garda to the
west, and the Dolomite mountain range to the north. The foothills of the latter
form finger-shaped valleys where the vineyards of Valpolicella dot the
landscape. "Verjago" is made from an indigenous grape blend, with Corvina being
the principle variety. After harvest, the grapes undergo a unique process called
"Appassimento", allowing the grapes to dry for several months on straw mats in
small structures called Fruttaio, which are interspersed throughout the
vineyards. This process is typically reserved for Amarone della Valpolicella,
the region's greatest wine, making this bottling an incredible value, especially
for those in search of something full-bodied and bold.96

VENETO REDS OF QUINTARELLI & DAL FORNO

FEATURED PRODUCERS

Quintarelli vs. Dal Forno. DRC vs. Leroy...Lafite vs. Latour...Conterno vs.
Gaja... the wine geek's equivalent to a political debate (notwithstanding a
little BS) in a quest for the single greatest expression of a particular wine.
In Valpolicella, two producers indisputably reign at the top of the quality
pyramid: Quintarelli and Dal Forno. Both producers commit maniacal attention to
fruit selection, sorting down to the individual berry if necessary to achieve
the best extraction of flavor possible. Quintarelli's genius in the cellar is
carried out through more traditional methods of èlevage, while Dal Forno boasts
one of the most technologically advanced wineries in the world. Preference in
the resulting wines can be polarizing depending on the taster, but the quality
of both is unquestionable. Where Quintarelli masterfully draws elegance and
otherworldly aromas out of his Amarones, Dal Forno excels in achieving depths of
concentration winemakers in Napa only dream about.

FEATURED AGLIANICO CAMPANIA

San Salvatore, "Ceraso", 2019Campania, the "shin" of the boot, is a region rich
with culture and history. From the metropolitan city of Naples and the Amalfi
Coast, to the Cilento e Vallo di Diano National Park, wherein you'd find ruins
of Ancient Greek temples from the 500's BCE. Within this vast park also sits the
San Salvatore winery, established in 1988. Focusing on organic and biodynamic
cultivation of Aglianico, Campania's most widely planted grape, San Salvatore
has become a name synonymous with quality at a great value. For generations
before that, and still today, the family has farmed buffalo, bred to produce the
famed Mozzarella di Bufala Campania, maybe the most famous mozzarella in the
world. Of course, a buffalo graces their label, and their slogan reads in part:
"I've seen a buffalo through the grapevines, and I've drank wine".
Straightforward and to the point, not unlike this wine.77

referring to areas with the largest concentration of centenarians. Cannanou (the
Sardinian variant of Grenache) is incredibly anti-oxidant rich, and locals
consume two glasses a day on average, undeniably contributing to their
longevity. The Contini family, as well, has been at it for over 100 years, now
in its 4th generation of family propriety. So please enjoy this beautifully dark
and brooding wine, it may just tack a year or two onto your life expectancy.72

FEATURED PINOT NOIR

J. Christopher, "Basalte", Willamette Valley, 2018Named after the rocky volcanic
soils of Oregon's Willamette Valley, J. Christopher's "Basalte" comes from the
best fruit of the estate's sustainably dry-farmed vineyards. The Chehalem
Mountains AVA is one of the coolest climate and most geologically diverse
subregions of the Willamette Valley, giving this wine a strikingly unique sense
of terroir and site specificity. Medium bodied with notes of juicy crushed
berries, volcanic rock, maple leaf and a touch of toasted oak, this is an easy
drinking, quintessential Oregon Pinot Noir that is sure to provide a wonderful
backdrop to any meal.89

FEATURED CABERNET SAUVIGNON

Post Parade, "Stretch Drive", Napa Valley, 2018Crafted by the Napa prodigy
Thomas Rivers Brown, Post Parade tells a story through its name. Started by a
few Kentucky boys, it refers to the tradition of walking thoroughbred horses
onto the racetrack just before lining up at the starting gate. It's a moment
that inspires appreciation and wonder, and is often how you can decide which
horse to put your money on. We're putting all of ours on Thomas Rivers Brown,
whose name has become synonymous with the highest quality Napa Cabernet.119

FEATURED VALDEGUIÉ BLEND

Cruse, "Monkey Jacket", North Coast, 2019 -Michael Cruse prides himself on
making wines that he describes as "unabashedly Californian and inherently
delicious". Native to Northern California, he started Cruse after years in the
industry and notably creating a Champagne-inspired Sparkler called Ultramarine,
using Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the legendary Charles Heintz vineyard.
Super cool. For his eponymous label, he opted against the usual suspects as it
pertains to California wine, choosing instead to cultivate lesser known
international varieties such as Valdeguié, Tannat, Carignan, and St Laurent, all
farmed organically. Monkey Jacket is the flagship bottling of Cruse, with
Valdeguié leading the way in this unique blend. Though the grapes are obscure,
the flavors in the glass are somehow familiar; brightness of fruit, distinct
earthiness, and generous structure79

DESSERT WINES

FEATURED VIN SANTO DEL CHIANTI

Donatella Cinelli Colombini, 2007Literally translated "Holy Wine", Vin Santo has
a rich history dating back to the heart of the Renaissance era. Using the unique
passito method, grapes are dried out on straw mats to concentrate sugars and
amplify complexity. Legend has it that a 14th century friar once used leftover
Vin Santo from Mass to heal the sick. We're not guaranteeing a miracle, but
might suggest that a glass of this 'enlightened spirit' can cure what ails
you500ml 176
