HOW DOES A HAIR TRANSPLANT WORK?

No incision is required!

Hair transplant procedures using NeoGraft are performed at our Louisville, KY
practice using a local anesthetic on your scalp. An oral sedative could be added
to keep you calm during the procedure. During your appointment, Dr. Mays will
talk to you about what to expect throughout your procedure, such as how long it
will take. When you are prepared, Dr. Mays and his team will begin the

Donor follicles are normally taken from the back of your head as this area of
hair growth remains constant. For moderate to large grafts, the entire sides and
back of your scalp might have to be shaved. For smaller cases (less than 1,000 –
1,200 grafts), you may just need to get a small strip of hair shaved that is
camouflaged by the hair above it. The donor hair is removed in follicular units,
typically about 1 – 4 hairs. The hair extraction process is randomized so that
the hair around the extracted grafts will grow back and also mask the extracted
follicles. Dr. Mays will plan the transplanted area in accordance with the
depth, angle, density, and orientation of your scalp to make natural-looking
outcomes.
