You are cordially invited to present your dance works with "Dance-Forms' 79th
International Choreographers' Showcase" and share the stage with internationally
acclaimed performers in three performances in ASHTON HALL at SAINT STEPHENS as
part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe on August 7, 8, 9, 2024.

ASHTON HALL at SAINT STEPHENS is an elegant and professional venue equipped with
modern lighting and sound systems, marly dance floor and clean facilities for
all the artistic needs of the performers.

All the performances are accessible to people of all ages. Members of the
audience will purchase admission tickets priced in Scottish Pounds.

The exciting trip from August 5, 2024 day of arrival in Edinburgh through August
10, 2024 day of departure will give choreographers an excellent opportunity to
present their work, to network with directors, producers, other artists
(hopefully to negotiate new engagements!) and to earn a share of the revenue
from ticket sales of all the performances.

We provide a complete production package which includes registration fees, the
three performances, lighting and sound, technical assistance, publicity, printed
programs, Posters, flyers, box office, license to present, liability insurance,
pre-show rehearsal arrangements and accommodation. All for a participation fee
for each dance-artist on stage (airfare excluded).

Enrique Bejarano Vidal originally from Guadalajara, Mexico trained with the
National Ballet School of Cuba and the Academie Princess Grace in Montecarlo,
Monaco. In 2018, He was awarded the Youth American Grand Prix Finals Gold Medal
in New York City. Previously receiving another Gold Medal at the International
Competition in Mexico in 2011. In 2021 he joined the Birmingham Royal Ballet
where he's considered a rising star.



 

Past Performances of "Dance-Forms' International Choreographers' Showcase"
featured Matthew Ball, principal dance-artist at the London Royal Ballet
interpreting "My Accidental Departure" a dance-theater work created between
Susana B. Williams, director of Dance-Forms Productions and the artist. 




The work "My Accidental Departure" choreographed by Susana B. Williams, director
of Dance-Forms Productions in collaboration with Matthew Ball, principal dancer
at the Royal Ballet was synchronized to Vivaldi's "Four Seasons: Summer"
arranged by Max Richter. The work was presented on August 5 and 6, 2019 at the
Emerald Theater/Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Brandon Lawrence, former principal dance-artist at Birmingham Royal Ballet and
soloist at Ballet Zurich is a featured principal dance-artist with Dance
Productions, 2018 MOVE IT Ambassador, UK National Dance Awards nominated for the
Dancing Times Award for 2018 Best Male Dancer, “Outstanding Male Performance”
Nominee for his interpretation of Pan in Ruth Brill's "Arcadia." 

From the pages of London Dance Europe Magazine written by Amanda Jennings it
gives me great pleasure to announce that Brandon Lawrence, principal dancer at
Birmingham Royal Ballet and featured principal dancer with Dance-Forms
Productions was recognized in the category of 2018 OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE BY A

About Us

Susana B. Williams is co-founder and current director of DANCE-FORMS PRODUCTIONS
and the creator of "DANCEFORMS' INTERNATIONAL  CHOREOGRAPHERS' SHOWCASE" a
branch of Dance-Forms Productions presenting the original works of emerging,
professional, and distinguished choreographers at prestigious international
events.

            Williams received the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels the
highest honor awarded by the Commonwealth of Kentucky for her work as ambassador
of good will and fellowship around the world, as well as for her contributions
to Kentucky and her special achievements in the art of dance and
choreography.   

Williams is one of a selected group chosen from the United States to serve on
the Nijinsky Awards 2002 Experts Commitee. The Nijinsky Awards Gala, officiated
by her Royal Highness Caroline Princess of Hanover was held at Salle des
Princes, Grimaldi Forum in Monte Carlo, Monaco on December 14, 2002. On April 4,
2008 Williams served on the panel of two dance experts auditioning the works
submitted for the Choreographers’ Fellowship awarded by the Tennessee Commission
for the Arts. Williams has been an external reviewer forappointment, promotion,
and tenure of candidates pursuing positions for the Department of Modern Dance
at the University of Utah, the Department of Theatre and Dance at the University
of Alabama, the Department of Modern Dance at Texas State University, the
University of Maryland, Towson University. 

Williams received her BA in Dance Direction from the Superior School of Dance at
the University of San Carlos in Guatemala. She holds degrees in Arts and
Education from the English American School of Guatemala, the University of Paris
in France, and F+F Schule fur Künst und Mediendesign in Zürich, Switzerland.

Williams graduated with honors from the National School of Dance of her native
Guatemala and received scholarships with the School of Les Grands Ballets
Canadiens, the National Ballet of Mexico, Nina Vyroubova School of Dance in
Paris, France.

She began instructing dance in 1968. Her teaching includes Classical Ballet,
Modern Dance, Modern Jazz, Ethnic Dance, Dance Theater, Improvisation,
Choreography, Movement Analysis, Creative Process, History of Dance, Dance
Administration, Languages, Latin American Studies and the Mayan Myth.

Williams performs and instructs regularly in schools all over Kentucky. She has
created dance programs and dance projects for The Kentucky Institute for Arts in
Education, The Arts in Education Department, The University of Louisville.

Internationally, she has instructed at the University of Veracruz in Xalapa,
México, as well as professional dance schools in Guatemala, El Salvador,
Switzerland, Lithuania and the USA.

As a professional dancer she has performed with dance companies in Central
America, México, Canada, the United States, and France. Williams has been the
Artistic Director of the National School of Dance of San Salvador, El Salvador,
Modern and Folklore Dance Company of Guatemala, Primogénesis, Classical Ballet
of El Salvador, and Thought-Forms Dance Company.

As a choreographer she is interested in exploring and expressing contemporary
themes through dance. Her dances communicate the spaces and rhythms, shapes and
forms found within the modern world. She’s one of the finalist choreographers
awarded at the 1993, 7th Saitama International Choreography Competition in
Japan.

Williams is the recipient of the 1988-89 Kentucky Arts Council's Al Smith
Fellowship for Choreography and she was the first choreographer receiving the
Individual Artist Professional Development Grant from the same organization. In
2005 Williams was awarded the Kentucky Arts Council “Arts Build Communities
Grant” to partially fund the first edition of THE BLUE GRASS STATE INTERNATIONAL
DANCE FESTIVAL. For three consecutive years Williams received Fulbright grants
in support of THE INTERNATIONAL DANCE FESTIVAL ANTIGUA-GUATEMALA from the Office
of Cultural Affairs, United States Embassy in Guatemala.

Williams' choreography has been produced by national dance companies in Central
America, arts festivals in the United States, México, France, Japan, and
Lithuania.

With Dance-Forms Productions she presented her work in more than 1,000
professional presentations including performances at The Kentucky Center in
Louisville, Kentucky, Theatre de la Danse Golovine in Avignon, France, Centre de
Danse du Marais and Le Regard du Cygne in Paris, France, Artecentro and Centro

HISTORY

"Dance-Forms' International Choreographers' Showcase" is a professional
organization providing opportunities for emerging and distinguished
choreographers to present and perform their work at prestigious international
venues. Designed especially for the self-producing artists, "The International
Choreographers' Showcase," offers a complete theater experience.

Here's a history in brief:

Susana B. Williams, director of Dance Forms Productions, initiated "The
International Choreographers' Showcase," in 1994, premiering in the Festival Off
d'Avignon in Avignon, France. Since then, Dance-Forms Productions has delighted
international festivals with exciting presentations of contemporary dance. Each
showcase is a unique blend of distinguished choreographers and dancers from
around the world.  Through these artists' professional efforts and dedication to
dance, art becomes reality across the globe. The showcase has appeared at
prestigious festivals in Austria, Chile, France, Germany, Greece, Guatemala,
Honduras, Italy, Lithuania, Mexico, Monaco, Montenegro, the Netherlands,
Scotland, Serbia, Spain, Switzerland and the USA.

 The first showcase was presented at Theatre de la Danse Golovine for Festival
Off d’Avignon, France from July 23 through August 2 of 1994.  The showcase
featured the work of choreographers Dianne Aldrich, Anahi Galante (Alvin Nikolai
Company), Peter Kalivas (Malashok Dance Company), Joy Kellman (Joy Kellman &
Dancers), Julio Enrique Rivera (Alvin Ailey Dance Company), Kelly Roth, Mariko
Tanabe (Erick Hawkins Dance Company), Zeynep Tanbay (Martha Graham and Elisa
Monte Dance Companies), Susana B. Williams (Dance-Forms Productions).

 In past years the showcase attained the distinction of ranking high among the
best dance presentations offered abroad.  Recognized by the Avignon Press as the
most remarkable dance performance of Festival Off d’Avignon 1995, the showcase
is a great international attraction. 

 “The International Choreographers’ Showcase” has been a special feature for the
International Dance Encounters of Guatemala with performances at Centro Cultural
“Miguel Angel Asturias” in June of 1995, The XVIII and XX Contemporary Dance
Festival of the Americas with performances at Teatro de la Danza of the Fine
Arts Institute of Mexico City in November 1997 and November 1999, the 50th
Anniversary of Ballet Guatemala with performances at Centro Cultural “Miguel
Angel Asturias” and Proyecto Cultural El Sitio in Guatemala, in June 1998, the
Vienna Spring Festival in Vienna, Austria on May 23 and 24, 1999, The
International Dance Fair NRW in Essen, Germany with performance on June 9, 2000,
The Monaco Dance Forum in Monte Carlo, Monaco with performances on December 14
and 15, 2000, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with performances from August 13
through August 17, 2001 and subsequently in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007,
2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, Centro Cultural “Miguel Angel Asturias” June
Festival on June 24 and 25, 2006 and again on June 28 and 29, 2007 and June 19
and 20, 2009, 2010, 2011. The World Dance Conference in Athens, Greece in 2006,
2007, 2008, LUDT Festival "Dance In Italy" in Bari, Italy in 2008, The Bluegrass
State International Dance Festival in 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011.

 This year "Danceforms' International Choreographers' Showcase" is celebrating
twenty years of performances and dance activities around the world.

Danceforms presents 'The 29th International Choreographers' Showcase'
Dance-Forms Productions

A beautiful collection of dances created by eight international choreographers,
with performance genres ranging from tender ballet duets to Indian folk dancing
this unique showcase provides the audience with a fantastic variety of styles,
genres and skill levels.

The most breath taking choreography for me came from Anandha Ray, recently named
one of the top twenty-five women's arts visionaries. I felt her dancers managed
to display a beautiful emotional bond that strengthened the narrative behind the
dance. With such an eclectic show there is sure to be at least one performance
that will blow you away.

Top notch showcase

Excellent sample of contemporary choreographic talent, very diverse show,
especially liked Donderis' DESTINATION, from Spain - not only a sunny place to
visit, looks like they've got some dancers.

I liked this Showcase because it offered such a diverse grouping of dances it
couldn't help but appeal to everyone in the audience. For the modern dance
aficionado who sees meaning in spastic, energetic movements, there was the duet
"Destination," for the romantic with a knack for creating a back story, the
simple, elegant solo "Release" and for those who like dance uncomplicated, the
three-part "Going Out" (hand on cheek here, hair in face there, angst! anguish!)
that if nothing else, is a remarkable contrast to the other pieces. Two dances
of note: "The Wacah Chan" during which Susana Williams evokes a maternal,
conjuring goddess and "Perfume de Gardenias" which features a wheelchaired
dancer. In all, innovative and accessible.
