MY STORY

        Welcome to my site! I founded vanWessemKalligrafie, a calligraphy
business in 2021, providing all kinds of calligraphy items. These include gift
tags, cards and artworks. I can also create bespoke event or wedding items like
addressed envelopes, menus, place settings, invitations and so on. There is an
etsy shop at vanWessemKalligrafie and I’m active on social media sites such as
Instagram and Facebook.

        I enjoy blogging here about calligraphy and how that interacts with my
crafting and journalling. In my spare time, I also enjoy creating junk journals
and books. My favorite project to date was binding my own thesis (see below). My
favorite crafting practices are when I can mix my calligraphy with my
bookbinding and junk journalling interests to create truly unique works of art.

        As well as being a calligrapher, I am also a historian. My main focus of
study is the social and political history of seventeenth-century England. I
graduated with a PhD in this topic in 2022. If you’d like to know more about my

some of my discoveries on that site.

        I am also profoundly deaf. I share my life with my lovely husband but
also my beloved hearing dog, Neve. She’s a lively young black labrador who
delights in keeping us both on our toes!
