Rotterdam, 20 December 2022

 

We are proud to announce that SMABTP Group became the majority shareholder in
DUPI Group on 1 December after acquiring the 58% stake previously held by
Vitol. 

 

DUPI was specifically looking for a committed and strategic partner to acquire
this majority of the shares. 

 

With SMABTP Group the minority shareholders and directors Anton Cornel (since
2014) and Stijn Bakkeren (since 2016) have found a leading international partner
with a strong strategic fit to further drive DUPI’s successful expansion across
the full spectrum of the corporate insurance market in the coming years.

 

Strategically, energy and commodities trader Vitol has decided to dispose of its
shares in holdings outside its own growth strategy and industry. 

 

Through the acquisition of the majority shareholding in DUPI, SMABTP Group aims
to extend its footprint in Europe.

The acquisition must be reviewed and approved by the Dutch Authority for the
Financial Markets (AFM).

market and, like DUPI, their focus is firmly on putting the client’s interests

insurer of choice for entrepreneurs seeking to insure complex risks.’

 

What does this mean for DUPI and clients?
Following SMABTP’s acquisition of the majority shares, DUPI will continue to
represent several renowned European insurers as Managing Agent. Staff will carry
on performing their current activities as usual and the company will continue to
operate under the well-established name DUPI.
