Mayor's Message

Aurora is a historic river town that is situated 35 miles west of Cincinnati,
Ohio, located in the Southeast corner of Indiana. Aurora was settled in the
early 1800's and incorporated in 1845 and has strong historic connections to the
Ohio River. Aurora is full of unique and historic buildings that preserve its
older rivercity characteristics.

NOW HIRING

The Aurora Police Department is currently accepting applications for the
position of police officer Applicants must be between the ages of 21 - less than
40 and able to pass a background check.

During the hiring process applicants will be required to subject themselves to
various forms of background checks including a polygraph examination, credit
check, drug screening, physical fitness testing, written aptitude testing, an
interview process, psychological evaluation and other testing that may be deemed
appropriate. Applications can be picked up at the police department or
downloaded online from www.aurora.in.us. Resumes will be accepted only if
accompanied by an application. Deadline for all applications and resumes is noon
Monday, April 3, 2023. Applications should be returned to mhountz@aurora.in.us
or that Aurora Police Department located at 233 Main Street Aurora, Indiana
47001. Additional requirements:

 * Must be a resident citizen of the United States
 * Meet residency requirements consistent with Indiana statute
 * Must be 21 years old to apply
 * Must have a high school diploma or GED certificate
 * Cannot have a felony conviction
 * Cannot have a misdemeanor conviction involving domestic violence
 * Must possess a valid driver's license
 * Cannot have been dishonorably discharged from the military
 * Must pass a mandatory drug screening test
 * Demonstrate honesty and integrity, by successfully completing pre-employment
   polygraph testing.

2023 AURORA FIMG


NOW OPEN

Applications Due: Friday, March 24th, 4:00 PM

The 2023 Aurora Façade Improvement Matching Grant (FIMG) Program is now open and
the City is accepting applications. This program is intended to incentive
rehabilitation of significant buildings in the City of Aurora and improve the
overall appearance of the City. This can pay for things such as repainting or
refinishing exterior siding, repairing windows, roofs and the like. Projects
will be scored on the level of need for the project and the impacts it will have
on the community.

The city will match up to 50% of the project expenses up to $10,000.

The property must be within the City limits of Aurora, see corporate boundaries
in image below. The other way to be know if your property is eligible is to
review the last three digits of the parcel identification number (which can be
found on your tax bill). Properties in the City of Aurora end in 003.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

Streets Superintendent

The Street Superintendent reports to and coordinates with the City Manager to
accomplish the goals and objects of the Board of Public Works, which generally
include planning and implementing maintenance and improvements of City streets
and rights-of-way, facilities and other general city property. The position is
responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Department of Public
Works.

Pay range is $38,500-46,000/year

Streets Laborer

Under the direction of the Street Department Superintendent, will be assigned
such duties as garbage and trash collection, recycling, woodchipping , painting,
mowing grass, hand digging, concrete finishing, general construction, equipment
maintenance and general cleaning duties. Individual is responsible for the
maintenance of City of Aurora buildings, structures, street sweeping and
detailed road construction activities. Required to keep maintenance records as
directed.

Pay range is $25,000-37,500/year
