SALAL, GAULTHERIA SHALLON

THE STORY OF

Salal, commonly known as Apple Leaf or with its Latin name Gaultheria Shalon,
can be recognized by its egg-shaped green leaves with serrated sides.

ORIGIN

Salal comes from the west coast of the United States, specifically the states of
Oregon, Washington and Canada. It also grows further south, towards Northern
California, but due to the weather conditions the product is not winter hardy
enough there. The leaves in particular are lighter in color in some places. In
other areas the leaves are a glossy dark green.

ASPIDISTRA, ELATIOR

THE STORY OF

Fatsa Japonica, also known as Aralia, is native to Japan and later cultivated in
Italy and Israel. In recent years, Aralia has mainly come from Central America,
with Costa Rica and Guatemala as important countries. Verdes imports products
weekly and delivers them all year round.

ORIGIN

Aralia grows under shade cloth, or saran in English, to protect the leaves from
the sun. It is renewed every 5 years as the plants continue to grow. After
harvest, the Aralia is washed in the shed and sorted into different lengths
ranging from 20 to 80cm
