MODERATELY TIPSY HISTORY. BECAUSE I'M GETTING TOO OLD.

UPDATE: 10/28/2020

We reached our goal, and so I will be filming our first episode of Moderately
Tipsy History next Saturday, on November 7, at 8pm. All donors get to attend the
filming live (or, at least, on Zoom). There's still time to donate to get your
exclusive invitation.

The donors have spoken, and the topic of the inaugural Moderately Tipsy will be
"Russia's False Dmitris." I promise you, it's riveting. It involves human
cannons. Kind of.

If you donate before November 6, you'll get to a) attend the event live; and b)
if we reach $1,000, have a say in the second episode.

_______________

Fall is my favorite time of year. Maybe it’s the crunch of leaves under my feet.
Or the candy. Or maybe it’s because it’s my birthday.

But it hasn’t been the same since 2017, when we lost the best person I ever
knew, Beth Caldwell. And with this year being the dumpster fire it is, I’ve been
feeling particularly bad. So I wanted to try to do something to lift our
spirits, mine included. I wish we had Beth’s voice to bring us through this. But
we don’t, and that sucks.

Let’s do a fundraiser that not only makes some money for a good cause, but also
invokes Beth’s fun-loving and fierce spirit.

One of my favorite things to do with Beth was to talk about the topics we would
rock at on Drunk History.

The thing is, another birthday has come and gone, and I don’t quite have the
tolerance I used to. So instead of Drunk History, I present to you: MODERATELY
TIPSY HISTORY

For every $500 we raise, I will consume two drinks very quickly, then spend 5-10
minutes telling some of my favorite stories from history. Donate anything, and
you’ll get a Zoom invite to the live event. If I don’t blow it too badly, I’ll
post it somewhere.

Here are some potential topics I may speak about.

 * Peter the Great brings modern dentistry to Russia;

 * Did Catherine the Great die under a horse?

 * Was Ivan the Terrible so terrible?

 * Bloody Mary gets a bad rap.
