During installation you will be prompted to fill in your email address, so that PayPal can determine if you need to create an account or can login to an existing account. If you already have an account, you can login, accept that our application is connecting with your PayPal account and skip the following steps until “Configuration”. ONBOARDING When you do not have an PayPal account yet, you can immediately start creating an account with PayPal. When you use the same email address in your shop and for onboarding with PayPal, we are able to pre-fill some information based on the data available in your shop. You will have to give access within your PayPal account to give API access for Lightspeed. After finalizing you can return to the Lightspeed environment using the button to continue with configuration. CONFIGURATION After completing installation and onboarding you will be presented with a settings screen for your Lightspeed app. You can access this settings screen again through your Lightspeed admin (just as you did when installing this application) and a session is valid for 15 minutes, if you need to change any other settings after this time period, you have to go through your Lightspeed Backoffice. SETTINGS The following settings can be configured: * Use PayPal as payment method Enabling this option allows you to use PayPal as a Lightspeed Payment Method when this is available. * Use Local payments methods Enabling this option allows you to use Local payment methods as a Lightspeed Payment Method during regular checkout. Note: This option can only be selected if PayPal is enabled as payment method. * Use Creditcard as payment method Enabling this option allows you to use Creditcard as a Lightspeed Payment Method during regular checkout. * Use credit card as a separate payment method If you enable this option, you can offer payment via credit card as a separate payment method. The transaction will appear as a credit card payment within your PayPal account. THE SHORTCUT FUNCTION OF PAYPAL “Shortcut” is the option from PayPal to show the payment button earlier in the user flow. PayPal completes the order in the background and consumers do not need to fill in their shipping address. Shortcut has the advantage that the order can be completed sooner and there are less steps for the consumer. However the consument has less choice of freedom, for example for choosing shipping options, etc. Another disadvantage could be that consumers will immediately buy a product, before they have the ability to add more products to their cart. For short, shortcut can be a powerful tool to have consumers check out sooner and prevent the user dropping out. Determine for yourself whether this is the right application for your webshop. * Shortcut on product detail page Enabling this option allows your customers to buy a product using PayPal directly from the product page. This allows them to skip your shops checkout proces and immediately pay with their PayPal account. Note: The checkout button will only be visible if PayPal is selected as a payment method. * Shortcut on cart page Enabling this option allows your customers to checkout their cart using PayPal directly from the cart page. This allows them to skip your shops checkout proces and immediately pay with their PayPal account. Note: The checkout button will only be visible if PayPal is selected as a payment method. Note: When using the PayPal shortcut, you cannot use custom shipping modules as the order is created by the PayPal app and the default shipping method is automatically applied. * Upload logo Upload a logo here (maximum 400x200) so that during the checkout this logo is visible on the checkout page. CUSTOM LOCATION When using a custom theme, you might need or want a different placement for the PayPal shortcut buttons. By selecting the “Custom” option for any of the supported settings. You can then use a CSS selector to define the element where the PayPal button should be loaded on the page. For more information see https://www.w3schools.com/cssref/css_selectors.asp REFUNDS When you create a return within Lightspeed, and this return has the status 'authorized', the payment will automatically be refunded within PayPal. If the full order has been returned, shipping costs will also be automatically refunded to the consumer. You can not disable this setting. You can create a return by opening the specific order within Lightspeed and use the 'Return' button and mark the products that have been returned. As soon as the status is set to 'Authorized', the payment will be refunded to the consumer.
