He found that there is an urgency for a financial analyst like him to recognise the importance of data literacy. Currently, he focuses on using python to automate and streamline finance data management workflow and using it for data analytics. He is upskilling together with team members towards the data analyst level. He also works as an interpreter between the IT developer and the Finance team. He can explain the finance process in IT developer understandable wording and explain it back to the finance team in layman’s terms. Next project, he plans to apply machine learning to his work to gain predictive insight from gathered data. Dave Lim Logistic Finance FP&A Analyst Crystal Tang has worked in multiple renowned fashion brands across the Asia Pacific. She has leveraged a robust data mining and analytics foundation in her 14 years as a professional in merchandise planning. Her role focuses on demand forecasting. analysing product seasonality. Rate of selling and inventory turn, which are crucial metrics to inform business decisions. However, in today’s highly connected worid, where data is the new currency, she knows her current tools could use some valuable upskilling. She would like to learn data science so that she may continue to contribute to her employer’s digitally-enabled future. Crystal Tang Data Analyst in Retail Company John Saw is a process engineer in Micron with over a decade worth of experience. There, he developed an interest in areas such as automation and artificial intelligence and how such setups could help his colleagues and himself improve productivity and better manage new technology processes. Through continuous self learning, he developed an application to help identify dominant factors for characterization with a calculator-like ability to predict process outcomes thereby increasing work efficiency. John Saw Senior Diffusion Process Engineer Tee Hui is the Vice President for the Education & Professional Development Group, and currently in charge of Technical Excellence Group in The Institution of Engineers Singapore (IES). He found there is an urgency to bring up the awareness of Al skill in the engineering community in a few years back, and working closely with various parties in promoting Al, while he was in Education Group. Recently, he focused on promoting the deployment of Al in the engineering community. His Al projects cover healthcare, transportation, manufacturing. education, management as well as design. AISG provides significant support to Singapore engineering community in Al. Teo Tee Hui Vice President at The Institution of Engineers Singapore Lorraine is an Assistant Director at Government Technology Agency. She is currently leading a team to manage Whole-of-Government Cybersecurity programmes on capability development, ecosystem development and cyber hygiene. GovTech has been adopting Al to improve the efficiency and productivity of government products and services. Lorraine was previously involved in implementing chatbots for government agencies, which embrace the use of Natural Language Processing (inc. Text to Speech), a branch of Artificial Intelligence. Currently, she and her team in cybersecurity are trialling the use of Al in simulated phishing emails for education and awareness purposes. Lorraine Ong Assistant Director at GovTech Gary’s research is into diabetes and complications of diabetes. Prior to Covid-19, he was also working in Hougang Polyclinic as a family physician. Currently, he provides clinical advisory to start-ups and help them validate clinical needs. One of his project was to use Al to help identify at risk patients with diabetic foot disease who require further evaluation. He also attended a datathon by NUHS in which his project was the use of Al to identify pathological x-rays for radiologists to prioritize. Gary Yee Health Service Researcher at National Healthcare Group Jacky Tan builds and maintains ETL data pipelines for data analytics/modelling and machine learning in his role as a Data Engineer at Singtel. His past experiences were in the social sciences disciplines where he spearheaded several research projects that investigated topics such as child abuse and neglect and recidivism among former inmates. A fortuitous event shaped his transition into the field of Al in 2018. After attending a Al4E event and on the advice of Al Singapore, he enrolled in the inaugural Master of Technology in Intelligent Systems programme at NUS and graduated in 2021. He continues to keep abreast of the latest development in the fields of Al Ethics and MLOps.
