LATEST NEWS -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In 2020 Ohio Paper Folders received a grant from the Columbus Foundation for operations support. This grant will have a significant impact on our financial stability and our ability to continue programming and to expand our community outreach, such as teaching origami in public libraries and schools throughout Ohio. The mission statement of the Columbus Foundation says it all "The Columbus Foundation is here to help you help others through the most effective charitable giving possible. Our mission is to assist donors and others in strengthening and improving our community for the benefit of all its residents." For Ohio Paper Folders this is due to the support of the Ingram White Castle Foundation which works with the Columbus Foundation and benefits educational organizations. In spring 2020 Ohio Paper Folders was awarded a grant from the Ohio Arts Council to assist us in our comunity origami outreach programs and our annual origami convention. Their mission statement: "The Ohio Arts Council is a state agency that funds and supports quality arts experiences to strengthen Ohio communities culturally, educationally and economically." Ohio Paper Folders is proud to be supported by such a strong state arts organization and pleased to receive their continuing support. We're also proud that our legislators recognize the importance of the arts in our communities and fund arts organizations. We particularly wish to thank the Ohio Arts Council for providing us a grant in 2020 which allowed us to keep things together in a year with zero normal revenue from the convention and other events. Without the generous support of the Ohio Arts Council we may have folded in 2020. * We had a ten by twenty foot tent at the Asian Festival on Memorial Day weekend. We taught hundreds of people a basic origami model. * Having a large display case (or two) full of origami is a great attraction. It brings people over, then they step in to learn to fold something. * * With two 8 foot tables inside and one behind the tent we have room to teach about 15 to 18 people at a time - and all three tables were frequently full. * * We teach colorful, simple models at events like this. Most of the paper is Wasau Astrobrights we purchase from OfficeMax and have the reams cut on their big cutter. We went through about 8,000 piecse sof paper. * * Admin area * a blutenkreisel * Brian Chan teaching * Brian Chan teaching * * * Todd Lenz teaching a small class Complex models are usually smaller, very hands-on classes. * * * a larger class * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
