Welcome to Sydney Aboriginal Family Support Service (SAFSS), an innovative
organisation with a vision of Aboriginal people empowering Aboriginals.

 

We provide culturally safe and responsive support to Aboriginal families. At
SAFSS, we believe that even a single action has the power to make a profound
difference in the lives of families, and through collective action, we can
greatly impact the entire community.



Our team is committed to working tirelessly each day, guided by a
strengths-based, person-centered, trauma-informed approach. We understand the
unique strengths and challenges that Aboriginal families face, and we strive to
empower and inspire them to overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.

 






Cultural safety is at the core of our practice. We recognise the importance of
creating an environment where Aboriginal families can feel respected,
understood, and valued. By incorporating cultural protocols, traditions, and
values into our support, we ensure that our services are culturally responsive

OUR STORY

Safeguarding the well-being and protecting the rights of Aboriginal families,
particularly children, necessitates a comprehensive child protection
understanding. At the SAFSS, we recognise the critical importance of ensuring a
secure environment for all children. Our organisation emerged as a response to
the challenges faced by Aboriginal families today, aiming to provide effective
solutions and support. Driven by a strong sense of integrity, respect, courage,
compassion, and innovation, we work diligently within the framework of child
protection to address the unique needs and concerns of Aboriginal children and
their families.

 

Our team comprises highly qualified practitioners who possess deep cultural
expertise and a profound understanding of the complexities surrounding child
protection. With their progressive ideas and bold actions, they offer innovative
approaches tailored to the specific cultural context and challenges faced by
Aboriginal families. By fostering a strong foundation of Aboriginal connection,
we aim to empower families and create an environment where children can thrive.
