9STUDIO FRIDAY, AUGUST 2, 2024 GAME PREVIEW 6: BEAN SIMULATOR 2-0.5 DIRECTORY Bean Simulator Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis Edition (previous Bean Simulator game) Project Throughold (previous Game Preview article) TODAY'S GAME: BEAN SIMULATOR 2-0.5! FOR SOME PEOPLE, IT'S CALLED BEAM SIMULATOR 2-BLAH BLAH BLAH! On July 26 2024, Bean Simulator Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis Edition was launched. (I never get tired of the word pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis, that's why I keep saying it!) It... did... well, uhh... (⬆Bean Simulator Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis Edition⬆) (⬇Rolling Quest⬇) ...better than our last game. I'll admit, the only review I've heard is: "was that a beanrooms multiplayer beta refrance" by a poorly-drawn red Pac-Man ghost which, honestly... what is "refrance" lol Anyway. But I don't care that the game has 1 download (Which is a bad thing, I know that) because I'm making a sequel! It's not coming out today but it IS coming out. (Well it likely will be if my friends checked their Google Chat and their emails.) But whatever. Bean Simulator 2-0.5 is a game where you play as B E A N . Who would've known. It's a platformer, so that's interesting, and I made it for A game jam. I'm not going to tell you WHICH game jam, just A game jam.* Either way, the game jam forced you to use GDevelop, one of my many enemies. It's slow, it's laggy. I'm not even putting a link. That's how terrible it is. Oh, and don't worry; I am working on an article describing ALL the problems this """""game engine""""" has. Oh, and they clearly botted the reviews on the Microtransactionsoft Store. Check this out. Just 5 star reviews? Fishy. But there is NOTHING! [There are no reviews, also it says that there are """""2 reviews""""", sure.] How does one do this? Either way, here's a gameplay trailer: Interested? (The following data is exclusive to Canada) Currently, Windows 10 stands at 63.51% marketshare. Windows 11 stands at 33.71% marketshare and Windows 8.1 stands at 0.45%. The graph above comes from July 2024 on statcounter and I rounded down everything but G Suite didn't comply. I rounded down Windows 8.1 to 0.4%, Windows 10 to 63.5% and Windows 11 to 33.7%. And now I will show you Windows 8.1 vs. Windows 10 in July 2015 (link here): It's safe to say that Windows 10 had a rocky start at first. The main problem seems to be its privacy, or rather lack thereof. Even now, disabling each and every single tracking setting in Windows 10 Pro likely isn't enough. You'd need Windows 10 Enterprise to have Microtransactionsoft not peeking at your every move. And it's only becoming worse, sadly, which is why 2025 may be The Year of Linux. But now that 9 years have passed, Windows 10 is becoming better and better. Look at the marketshare today and, yeah. Just to show you, above this text is Windows 7-11 (including 10!) vs. OSX 10.5 and macOS 12-14 combined. This just goes to show that, even though Windows eats up a TINY bit more than Apple, Windows still wins, just by a "short shot". Anyway, I've been using Windows 10 since March of 2020 after my Apple reign. I don't have any MacBooks left over or anything like that but I'm not gonna bother searching. Also, before you ask, no, I do NOT know what version of macOS/OSX I was using. Anyway, I've been using Windows 10 for approximately 4 years, 4 months and 4 weeks or roughly 1600 days of my life. Oh, and by the way, I started using Windows when I had first heard of Minecraft. I went to the website and tried buying the game but was extremely confused. My brother already had a copy of the game and lended to me his Mojang account so I could use it. Problem is, he would use it too, which would lead to my skin randomly changing every once in a while. When I got older, I bought the game myself and that's also when I used a Microsoft Account seeing as it was ~2022-2023 by then. The bygone era of Mojang Studios accounts was long gone by then. So that's my story with Windows. Now, I am *somewhat* in the process of moving over to Ubuntu 24.04 LTS on my Dell G3 15 which we'll refer to as 3-15. I've been facing massive technical issues but I keep trying anyway. PROJECT THROUGHOLD Project Throughold is a parody of Windows 10 in Scratch. It's stupid, but fun. The name "Throughold" is a parody of Windows 10's codename, "Threshold", named after a planet in Halo, by the way. The video shows a WIP preview of what's to come. What have you done. This is why MIT App Inventor was crashing for me. Technically it's your fault for hogging up all the storage space, but honestly I'm in that kind of trouble too. In the words of Livakivi: "And what the [Hi!] is this [Come on.]? And why do I have to make a Microsoft account just to install an operating system? And why do I have to log in to clear my local browsing history on Edge? And now you're telling me I can't even play Minecraft without a Microsoft account? Absolutely disgusting. Unbelievable, actually." I figured out that from my home to a Belle Province location, ~4% of screens have a blue screen on them. Whether that'd be the Recovery screen: Or just a blue screen that I didn't see very well. That's the end of my statement. Play Con! Welcome back! Near the end of 2023, we experimented with making a game in GDevelop. Yeah, GDevelop? Anybody use that? Anyways, as we stated earlier, we rate GDevelop 2/10. Pros of GDevelop * You can easily make platformers * There's an asset store * That's it lol Cons of GDevelop * Doesn't have the most user-friendly UI * Max 10 cloud projects without upgrading * Impossible to update games published on gd.games The cons of GDevelop outweigh the pros of GDevelop. Yet we still pushed on, and, honestly... The game is okay. We rate it 3/10. Yes! We rate our OWN GAME 3/10. Sounds dumb, right? ...Well play the game and look at its graphics and yeah, it's... not very good. But whatever. And to add to the blood, sweat, tears and added stress of using a new game engine, we added a time limit! We started at 9AM and had to finish our project by 4PM. Yes! 7-8... HOURS! I kid you not! Now THAT's stressful. You think your 3rd grade final exams were stressful? THIS IS STRESSFUL! Anyways, the game's called Con, based off of a device file in MS-DOS (yes, MS-DOS) and Windows. The code name was "Unnamed Testificate 1" and... it... doesn't... really... have a story line. An update is available below, posted on June 6 2024. POST: Today, we'll be talking about a game we've never really talked about before. Sorry that we haven't mentioned it! It was because the development for it was halted for like, a year before we decided to come back to it. So here we are! TODAY'S GAME: BLIMPS! (A.K.A. BEAN SIMULATOR 2) GOOD MORNING VIETNAM!!! I know some of you might not be in Vietnam, but it's funny okay? Yep, this belongs in my blog. But we're not here to talk about some random joke one of my friends came up with and told his class. We're here to talk about our newest invention (if you can even call it that due to the fact that it's not even done), Blimps! Also known as BEAN SIMULATOR 2, Blimps is going to be an open-world but story-based game. It is currently being made in unityyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy or as I shall now call it, Brackeys' Hope. In Blimps, you fly on... a blimp! Who could have thought? You explore realms of flying, discover and... do STUFF! WOW STUFF! SO COOL! lol - anyway. Also right now Dasanimations is roasting me and I can't work on a blog post, work on a meme, respond to Google Chat messages and moderate them too all at the same time. But whatever. The newest addition to the project is the Water Gun, the first weapon. It's almost complete, but not quite done. However, handling water in video games is extremely difficult. Well, it's not really water that's difficult, it's more liquid in general. This is because liquids are: 1. Not solid. 2. They are liquids lol. 3. (more in-depth explanation of #2) Because handling and rendering liquids take up a lot of processing power, can devastatingly lower the overall performance of the game on older, less powerful machines and it just involves a lot of math in general that is WAYYY over the skill level I'm at. What's the solution? A solid blue sphere that we have to call "water". Press the F key on your keyboard to shoot a "water droplet". These are solid (as in they have a collision box) and don't look like water whatsoever. Oh well, it's video game logic. Why is any given player in Minecraft possible to hold multiple statues of liberty? The answer is: video game logic! These "water droplets" will be deleted if either of the following conditions are met: 1. The water droplet goes to Y level -501 or lower. 2. The water droplet has existed for 5 seconds. The reason why these water droplets end up being deleted if either of these 2 conditions are met is for performance and power usage reasons. Without the lines of code used to do this, computers running our game would constantly have to use up power and performance calculating the movement of possibly millions of blue spheres and rendering moving 3D objects that you can barely even see.
