A fourth woman testified Friday that Ghislaine Maxwell recruited and groomed her
for sex with Jeffrey Epstein when she was aged 16.

Annie Farmer, now 42, told jurors she visited the deceased financier and Maxwell
at his New Mexico ranch in 1996, adding that her older sister, Maria, worked for
Epstein at the time in New York. Three other women who testified earlier in
Maxwell’s trial about sexual misconduct used either pseudonyms or only first
names to conceal their identity. Farmer revealed her identity and has publicly
pushed for punishment using her real name.

Maxwell’s first three accusers said they were teenagers when Epstein’s gal pal
set them up for sexual abuse by the disgraced billionaire, saying Maxwell
encouraged them to give Epstein massages that escalated to sex.

Friday’s witness said she felt uncomfortable about visiting Epstein’s ranch
because of his inappropriate behavior with her in a movie theater in New York
during an earlier visit. Farmer testified she felt safe, though, because she
felt Maxwell’s presence would prevent Epstein from touching her.

While she was at Epstein’s New Mexico ranch, Farmer agreed to a massage from
Maxwell. Farmer alleged Maxwell touched her breasts during that massage. Even
creepier, she felt Epstein had watched, saying she did not see him but the door
was open during her massage and he was nearby.

“I just had this sense that he could see me,” Farmer reportedly said. “I just
wanted so badly to get off the table and have this massage be done.”

Maxwell’s attorney Laura Menninger got Farmer to confirm several times Maxwell
was not present when she first met Epstein in New York. Attorneys for the
British socialite have long argued memories of her accusers are questionable
because decades passed after the alleged abuse occurred. So, Menninger asked
Farmer, point-blank, if her memories of the encounter were reconstructed.

Farmer acknowledged conducting internet searches and speaking with friends about
other concurrent events to refresh her memory about the timing of her trip to
visit Epstein and Maxwell in New Mexico.

Menninger then cast aspersions on Farmer’s veracity by informing jurors she
received money from a compensation fund set up for Epstein’s victims. Farmer
admitted during her testimony that she received $1.5 million from the fund.

The witness concluded by saying she never had further contact with either
Epstein or Maxwell after that New Mexico visit.

U.S. District Judge Alison Nathan instructed jurors that, if Epstein had
physical contact with Farmer, it was not “illegal sexual activity” under New
Mexico law, which mirrored the jury instruction she delivered before another
alleged victim (“Kate”) testified.
