The JDI actively builds connections between leading academic researchers, government leaders, and practitioners. It provides support for policy-relevant research among faculty and graduate students, works to translate the insights from academic research for real world applications, and fosters relationships with policy makers and organizations. The JDI is housed in the Queen’s Economics Department (QED), one of the leading economics departments and graduate programs in Canada, and has close ties with the School of Policy Studies. Currently, the JDI supports several research groups within the department of economics, two professional certification programs, and several national networks of economists, including the Canadian Macroeconomic Study Group, the Canadian Public Economics Group (CPEG), and the One Society Network in public health.
