Many cities will double in size, particularly in the developing world. The impacts of these shifts are already being felt around the globe. Innovative solutions have to be found to address the complex needs and aspirations of these spaces and their diverse populations. In 2015, the Ismaili Centre Toronto will host Cities of Arrival, a year-long, curated program of lectures, symposia, films, roundtables, exhibitions, performances, youth workshops, and children’s activities, that explores the pasts, presents and futures of cities and urban life, and critically imagines how humanity will share the most densely populated spaces on our planet.
