Pancrase in 1993 and Pride Fighting Championships in 1997.

Tough Guy Contest, subsequently renamed Battle of the Superfighters, was
established by CV Productions, Inc. in 1980 as the first regulated MMA league in
the United States. In Pennsylvania, the firm sponsored ten competitions. The
Pennsylvania State Senate, though, proposed a law banning the sport in 1983.

The Gracie family founded the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) MMA promotion
company in 1993, bringing Brazilian jiu-jitsu to the United States, which had
been established in Brazil since the 1920s. The company hosted an event with
virtually no regulations, owing to Art Davie and Rorion Gracie's involvement in
trying to emulate Vale Tudo matches that occurred in Brazil, and would later
introduce a different set of rules, which varied from other leagues that were
more inclined to realistic fights.


MIXED MARTIAL ARTS RULES

Ultimate Fighting Championship. 

The Unified Rules are the de facto MMA rules in the United States, and they have
been followed by other competitions and authorities all over the world. Other
prominent sets involve Shooto's, which were the first to require padded gloves,
and Pride rules, which were introduced by UFC following PRIDE Fighting
Championships.

twice and the most fights in the same division (16), the highest number of
fights (13), most victories by submission in UFC Light Heavyweight History.

4. Chuck Liddell

and holds the record for most victories in the UFC Light Heavyweight division.

Fame.

5. Randy Couture

The so-called ‘The Natural’ is considered one of the best ground-and-pound and
clinch fighters in the top UFC heavyweight rankings.

Accomplishments: has the most title reigns (5) in the UFC, 3 UFC Heavyweight
titles and 2 UFC Light Heavyweight titles, one of the only 3 UFC fighters with
titles in 2 separate divisions, and conscripted into the UFC Hall of Fame in
2006.

6. Matt Hughes

This American could easily be described as the most challenging Welterweight
fighter to defeat. In addition to having two UFC Welterweight Championships
under his belt, but he also has the reputation of defeating all possible players
in the UFC Welterweight division and obtaining the second most defenses in the
division (7). In 2010, Hughes was enlisted into the UFC Hall of Fame.

7. B.J. Penn

This American monster, dubbed "The Prodigy," is one of only three UFC champions
to have claimed championship titles in two different divisions. 

Penn was also the first fighter in the Lightweight division to go more than
eight years without losing a fight. His most significant achievement was
clinching the Welterweight belt by submitting long-reigning former champion Matt
Hughes. He was entered into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2015.

8. Royce Gracie

Born in Brazil, he is considered one of the sport's most prominent ambassadors.
The period from 1993 to 1994 saw his championships: UFC 1, UFC 2, and UFC 4
tournaments, and the most successive submission victories (11). 

One of his most ferocious fights was with Ken Shamrock in the UFC 5 championship
match, which finished in a tie. Gracie was one of the first two members of the
UFC Hall of Fame.

9. Conor McGregor

Whilst not being trained in many MMA arts, like wrestling, submission defense,
or clinch, this Irish striker par brilliance has been praised, and fairly so,
for numerous accomplishments. 

He is the reigning UFC Lightweight Champion and former UFC Featherweight
