Whether you are a past recipient, donor, or otherwise have a story about donor milk to tell, you can help champion nonprofit milk banking. Together we can make a difference. September 7, 2022 INTERVIEW: CDC'S REPORT ABOUT DONOR MILK USE IN THE NICU The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently released a mortality and morbidity weekly report entitled, "Donor Human Milk Use in Advanced Neonatal Care Units." HMBANA's Executive Director, Lindsay Groff, discussed these findings with Dr. Lisa Stellwagen, Executive Director of the University of California Health Milk Bank in the video. Dr. Stellwagen will join Summer Kelly, Executive Director at Mothers' Milk Bank of the Western Great Lakes, and Kim Updegrove, Executive Director at Mothers' Milk Bank at Austin for an upcoming HMBANA webinar, "Implementing a Donor Milk Program: How to Get Started" on October 18, 2022. One solution could be to donate your breast milk to a human milk bank. Not only is it free and easy to do, but it can be life-saving for infants in need. Typically, breast milk donations are prioritized for premature and sick infants who could benefit the most from human milk.
