Moissanite is not the same as a laboratory-grown diamond. Moissanite has
increased in popularity in recent years, yet it differs greatly from diamonds in
many respects. While mined diamonds are mined from the soil and Lab Created
Diamond Rings are developed in a laboratory, moissanite is formed by meteorites.
Moissanite is not a diamond and does not pretend to be one. Moissanite is doubly
refractive, whereas diamonds, whether lab or earth grown, are singly refractive.
This produces a disco ball of light, allowing you to see all of the hues of the
rainbow. So, while some people enjoy the fire brightness of moissanite, it does
not appear to be a genuine diamond.
