Carleton of Chevy Chase Carleton of Chevy Chase * At A Glance * Neighborhood * Floor Plans * More Info * Contact Us * Directions * History * Resident Log-in The Carleton of Chevy Chase is a luxury high-rise condominium in The Village of Friendship Heights in Chevy Chase, Maryland, at the gateway to the Nation’s Capital, near the northwestern border of Washington, D.C. The Carleton is the condo with the fewest number of units in the Village at just 140, making it considerably smaller than its neighboring buildings and allowing for a tight-knit community of owners since its construction in 1982. It is also the last of the condominiums built in the neighborhood and is set apart as the only one with door attendant service, separately metered climate control in every home, and an in-unit sprinkler suppression system in case of fire. The boutique building stands distinct with its red brick architecture of 12 floors of residences, the largest balconies in the village, and 4 floors of underground garage parking that is directly accessible by the building’s 2 elevators. The circular entry driveway is permanently covered with a canopy for inclement weather. It leads to a spacious lobby, staffed around the clock by a front desk concierge to greet you and your guests. Guest parking in the garage supplements residents’ assigned spaces. Entry access everywhere is controlled electronically and monitored centrally. Residences have 1, 2 or 3 bedrooms. There are about 20 one-bedroom units of approximately 1,000 square feet; nearly 100 two-bedroom units between 1,260 and 1,412 square feet; and more than 30 remaining units with two or three bedrooms/den ranging from 1,540 square feet to 2,403 square feet. A few are even larger. The typical two bedroom unit has 2 full bathrooms and a separate dining room; full electric kitchen; most with full-sized washer and dryer; some with double wall ovens; dedicated in-unit air conditioning and heat, with temperature controlled by the residents; large walk-in closets; and fiber optic television reception available. Nearly all homes have a balcony, room enough for lounging and dining outdoors. The balconies are the largest in the village. Privately controlled storage on a separate lower floor is assigned to each unit. All residents have access to a fitness center with locker room, shower and sauna facility; card room; and a party room that can be reserved in advance for a small fee. The party room has an attached full kitchen. Household pets are welcome. The heated swimming pool with sun deck is typically open from Memorial Day through Labor Day, sheltered in the green- and tree-lined courtyard garden. A certified lifeguard supervises it. Residents hold community wide social events through the year. The building engineer is available to handle certain small repairs at a nominal cost. The Association is certified by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA). The Carleton of Chevy Chase is convenient to bus and subway (Metro). The condominium is a brief free shuttle ride or a 5 to 7 minute walk to the Friendship Heights metro; then 13 minutes Metro transit to the subway stop for the White House, World Bank, or George Washington University; and 8 miles drive to the Capital Beltway (Interstate 495). The Village offers a free shuttle bus every 20 to 30 minutes on weekdays and weeknights as well as a weekend schedule that picks up in front of the Carleton building and drops off by the covered area of the Metro station as well as Whole Foods, Giant Supermarket, and all of the neighborhood condo and apartment buildings.
