There are opportunities to provide your input on the Comment Map and Comment Form. Enter Open House NEW ELECTRIC UTILITY INFRASTRUCTURE The location for new electric utility infrastructure (the Alternating Current Collector System, or “AC Collector System”) is currently being studied in Southwest Kansas. By providing nearby wind and solar facilities with a path to new markets via the Grain Belt Express high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission line, the AC Collector System will enable economic and reliability benefits for Southwest Kansas families and communities, while creating new jobs and investment in local economies. Prior to filing a siting application with the Kansas Corporation Commission, Grain Belt Express LLC, owner of the Grain Belt Express HVDC transmission line and a subsidiary of American-led energy company Invenergy, is seeking public feedback on the alternative route network being considered for the AC Collector System. The project study area, where the alternative route network is located, includes parts of Ford, Meade, and Gray Counties. The AC Collector System consists of overhead alternating current electric transmission lines and associated infrastructure. The Bucklin-Dodge City line is anticipated to run approximately 20 miles, and the Meade-Dodge City line will run approximately 46 miles. Each line can serve as a delivery node for nearby electric generation facilities, minimizing overall transmission right-of-way requirements. BUCKLIN-DODGE CITY LINE × Close lightbox -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Click on image to enlarge. The Bucklin-Dodge City line is an approximately 20-mile long, 345 kV transmission line in Ford County, Kansas. Power delivered through the Bucklin-Dodge City line will come from wind energy resources in the region that will generate clean, American-made energy to meet the nation's growing electricity demand, while generating millions of dollars for landowners through lease payments and local economic development. Input received through this Virtual Open House will be evaluated to determine a single Proposed Route for the Bucklin-Dodge City line to file with the Kansas Corporation Commission. MEADE-DODGE CITY LINE × Close lightbox -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Click on image to enlarge. The Meade-Dodge City line is an approximately 46-mile long, 345 kV transmission line in Ford County, Gray County and Meade County in Southwest Kansas. Power delivered through the Meade-Dodge City line will come from wind energy resources in the region that will generate clean, American-made energy to meet the nation's growing electricity demand, while generating millions of dollars for landowners through lease payments and local economic development. Input received through this Virtual Open House will be evaluated to determine a single Proposed Route for the Meade-Dodge City line to file with the Kansas Corporation Commission. PROJECT BENEFITS The AC Collector System will enable significant near- and long-term economic development, job creation, and tax revenues for the local region, at no cost to Kansas ratepayers. Together with other regional electricity infrastructure, these facilities will: * Provide easement and lease payments for farmers and ranchers * Create thousands of construction jobs * Boost economic activity and jobs at local restaurants, gas stations, hotels, and shops * Create long-term revenues supporting local public services and schools * Generate hundreds of millions of dollars in worker earnings and economic output for the local communities and the State of Kansas TIMELINE × Close lightbox -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Click on image to enlarge. *This is the current tentative project schedule pending approvals. All dates are subject to change. * Quarter 1 2024: Public and Stakeholder Engagement * Middle 2024: Anticipated filing of the line siting application containing the Proposed Route and discussion of the line siting process, with the Kansas Corporation Commission * Late 2024: Kansas Corporation Commission Decision * Quarter 3 2024 to Quarter 3 2025: Field Studies, Permitting, Engineering and Easement Acquisition * Quarter 4 2025: Construction ROUTING PROCESS * Stage 1: Desktop Data Collection * Stage 2: External Communications and Input (we are here) * Stage 3: File Proposed Route with Kansas Corporation Commission * Stage 4: Field Studies, Permitting, Engineering and Easement Acquisition COMMENT ON THE MAP Invenergy is committed to conversations with the community to gain insight into how we can best work together throughout this project. Input from landowners, local government, tribes, and local, state and federal agencies will be gathered and incorporated throughout the routing process. We are interested in learning as much as possible about the properties that may be involved and potential constraints and opportunities. ! What would you like us to know about the properties involved? Use the interactive map to identify a property, drop a pin, and add a comment. Input received from this Virtual Open House on all of the segment options within the Alternative Route Network will be evaluated to determine two single Proposed Routes—one for the Bucklin-Dodge City line and another for the Meade-Dodge City line—to file with the Kansas Corporation Commission.
