All recipients in the database are verified by source material such as official award citations, narratives and/or synopses from individuals or records from the National Archives. The Hall of Valor Project is ongoing. Doug Sterner, Contributing Editor and Curator of the Military Times Hall of Valor, discusses the origin of the Medal of Honor and how valor awards have evolved over the years.
