A Certified Public Accountant by trade, she launched her legacy media company by following her intuition and passion for cross-stitching. With three other women, including her sister, Janice Norton Ritter, and best friend, Barbara Cockerham, Phyllis began Hoffman Media at her dining room table in 1983 with an idea and $500 each. After the successful launch of Just CrossStitch magazine, Phyllis went on to start other brands such as Southern Lady, Taste of the South, TeaTime, Cooking with Paula Deen, The Cottage Journal, Southern Home, Southern Cast Iron, and Classic Sewing. When her beloved Victoria ceased publication, she approached Hearst about relaunching the magazine that she, and so many others, missed. In a unique joint-media venture, Victoria returned. While Phyllis saw many successes in her storied career as an entrepreneur, she was mom, wife, grandmother, sister, and friend first. “GREATNESS IS FOUND IN THE WORDS THAT WE SPEAK FROM OUR HEARTS TO ENCOURAGE AND AFFIRM OUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY.” —Phyllis Hoffman DePiano The Ribbon in My Journal blog SPEAKERS Inspiring speakers, impactful insights, unforgettable moments BRIAN HART HOFFMAN Chief Creative Officer and Owner, Hoffman Media ERIC HOFFMAN Chief Executive Officer and Owner, Hoffman Media BRENDA GANTT Cookbook Author LADY CARNARVON 8th Countess of Carnarvon, Highclere Castle NANCY GRACE TV Host and Legal Analyst WENDY KVALHEIM President and Design Director, Mottahedeh & Co., Inc.
