WELCOME TO THE SCHOOL OF NURSING - MUHAS

The School of Nursing (SON) was established in 1989 through collaboration
between the Nursing Education Department of the then Muhimbili Medical Centre in
Tanzania, and the Dalhousie University School of Nursing, in Canada. In 2007
when Muhimbili University College of Health Sciences (MUCHS) became a full
fledge university i.e. the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences
(MUHAS), five schools were established one of them being the School of Nursing
(SoN).

LOCAL & INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATIONS

The School of Nursing has recently formed partnerships with other Schools of
Nursing in the eight Universities in health sciences (public and private) in the
country through the formation of the Dean’s forum. The forum intends to
collaborate in the various functions to promote Nursing education and
professionalism through this body.

POSTGRADUATE TRAINING

To date, the School of Nursing - MUHAS is the sole institution that provides
Masters programmes in Nursing in East Africa; these are MSc N in Critical care
&Trauma and MSc in Mental health & Psychiatric Nursing.
