LET'S NOT LET OUR DIVERSITY END

Few places in the world are as important to humanity's survival as the Amazon.
With almost 7 million square kilometers, spread over nine countries, the forest,
symbol of the power of nature, plays a fundamental role in the stability of
climate and rainfall. More than 40,000 species of plants, 400 species of
mammals, 1300 species of birds and 3,000 species of fish live in it. It is also
the region that concentrates 1/5 of the world's fresh water, with its unique
rivers, which serve as roads for residents.
Most of this wonderful heritage is found in Brazil, a fact that gives the
country an impressive environmental, cultural and economic wealth. Home to 180
ethnic groups of Indigenous Peoples and about 14 million urban and rural
families, the Brazilian Amazon is, however, at risk. About 20% of the forest has
already disappeared, largely because of inadequate expansion of agribusiness,
logging and infrastructure.
To help conserve this complex biome, ILOVE AMAZONIA BRAZIL works side by side
with Indigenous Peoples to offer tools that complement their land management
capacity. The organization's partnerships also cover rural producers, with whom
ILOVE AMAZONIA BRAZIL develops pilot projects to increase productivity in
already open areas and to restore forests in parts of the properties.

Collaboration with companies from different sectors to strengthen more
sustainable production chains, including those for soy, beef and cocoa, and with
municipal, state and federal governments, to improve planning are still part of
the set of actions by ILOVE AMAZONIA BRAZIL for the Amazon. territory and
monitoring deforestation.
