FAQ’S
HOW MUCH TIME IS REQUIRED FOR A DENTAL IMPLANT PLACEMENT?
Receiving dental implants usually requires at least two separate appointments.
During your first appointment, your dentist or oral surgeon will examine your
mouth and take multiple x-rays. This allows them to better understand your oral
health situation and determine the best course of action you require.
Impressions of your mouth will be taken so that your dental implants can be
created.
Once they’re officially ready, you’ll return for a second visit to have them
installed. In some cases, your dentist may ask you to come back for a follow-up
check so they can see how your mouth is healing with your implants.
HOW DO I CHOOSE A MOUTH GUARD FOR MY CHILD?
When you’re looking for a mouth guard for you or your child, there are two ways
you can go: you can have one custom-made by a dentist or you can buy an
over-the-counter mouth guard. Although it’s always recommended that you visit a
dental clinic to have one made since this type of device will fit you better and
be more comfortable and durable, they can be expensive. Mouth guards purchased
at a drug or sports store make use of the boil-and-bite method and, while they
don’t mold perfectly to your teeth, they are still effective but won’t last as
long.
Ultimately, it’s up to you and your child which type of mouth guard you decide
to go with.
HOW ARE DENTURES AND HOW DO THEY WORK?
Dentures are a device made to restore your smile by replacing missing teeth.
Despite stereotypes, they are not specific to any one age demographic.
You can receive either complete or partial dentures. Complete dentures replace
your upper and lower row of teeth; partial dentures fill in gaps left behind if
you’re missing just a few teeth. Porcelain or composite resin is used to make
your dentures so that they mimic the appearance of your natural smile, which
includes a gum-colored base that fits over the ridges in your mouth.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF INVISALIGN?
Invisalign is a wonderful orthodontic treatment to keep in mind for the
following reasons:
* Your trays are meant to be removed! As a result, this means you don’t have to
alter your diet and that you can brush and floss normally.
* Your trays are comfortable. The dental plastic they’re made from won’t
irritate or scratch your gums like metal brackets potentially can.
* It’s more efficient; you’ll only need to come in for progress checkups about
every six weeks as opposed to every four.
* It’s safe and reliable for patients of all ages.
* It’s an effective treatment! Once you’re finished, you’ll be left with a
beautifully straight, functional smile that you can proudly show off to
everyone.
WHY IS A REGULAR DENTAL APPOINTMENT IMPORTANT?
There’s a reason why dentists always advise you to come in for routine checkups
and cleanings (which are usually combined into one appointment): because they’re
necessary! These appointments allow your dentist and yourself to communicate and
understand your oral health. Your dentist will clean your teeth and be able to
identify any problems that have surfaced.
No matter your age, coming in every six months will help you preserve and manage
your oral health.
WHAT IS A GENERAL DENTIST?
Like a general surgeon, a general dentist is a health care professional who is
qualified to perform a wide range of treatments to help enhance, repair, and
improve the functionality and appearance of your teeth and gums. These
individuals are sometimes called a “family dentist” because they can treat
patients of all ages. Unless you need specialized care like braces or you need
to have your wisdom teeth removed, when you visit a dental clinic, you’ll be
taken care of by a general dentist.
